Mira was attending the town's local flea market. She wasn't looking for anything in particular, simply browsing to see if anything popped out at her. Even if it didn't, she still got to see plenty of cool things even if she wasn't going back home with them. The flea market was very diverse, with vendors for just about everything renting out space. Artists, those looking to sell old belongings, farmers selling food, and much more. As Mira wandered around, she came across a particularly interesting booth. It seemed to have a much of vintage accessories and knick-knacks, most of them from movies including old director's chairs, clapperboards, and even costumes from various movies. It was like getting a look back into an older age of Hollywood! "Like what you see?" an older woman walked over, seemingly the one who was running the stand. "Yeah, this stuff is really cool!" Mira said with a smile. "Some of this I've never seen before. Did you used to work in the movies?" "Once upon a time, yes." she gave a weak chuckle and smile. "I'm Gloria Stevens, although I'm retired now I used to be one of the top wardrobe designers back in the day!" "Oh wow, I've never met anyone who worked on movies before! What was it like?" "It was marvelous, dear!" she laughed as she reminisced. "Though I preferred working before we had color on the pictures, it made the job much more interesting, finding the best colors to use to make them pop the way they needed to on black and white film. It's just as important in color, but the challenge just isn't there like it used to be!" she waved a hand. "But I doubt you want to hear about that! You probably want to hear about the celebrity gossip. There were so many characters I ran into. Some were really nice, others, oh man, I dreaded them coming in." she smiled. "Still, wouldn't trade away the experience for anything. So many stories to tell, but none I have the time for today. I have a booth to run!" "A-ah right. Of course." Mira gave a nod of her head. "I'd love to hear more sometime though, but for now, do you have anything interesting?" "All of it!" Gloria joked. "But this one is a personal favorite of mine." she said, producing an old cigarette holder straight from the early 1920s. "What is it?" "This was something a dear old friend of mine used. Her name, was...Tosha I believe. I haven't seen or heard from her in years. She was this big starlet back in my day, grew into one of our movie studio's biggest actresses. Back then they didn't really have agents they signed with the studios themselves and only acted in their movies. Anyways, this was her cigarette holder, even though she rarely actually smoked she off the screen she could almost never be seen without it. One day she left this in the dressing room and that was the last day she was at the studio. Whisked off to bigger things. We were a smaller studio and we never really got our footing like the ones that are still around today." "Sounds like it has a lot of history." Mira commented, taking the cigarette holder from Gloria. "So this was her's? An actress's?" "Precisely." "How much do you want for it?" "I see the history has captured your interest! Normally I wouldn't do this, but I feel like someone like you would appreciate it more than anyone else. It's yours." "R-really? Are you sure?" Mira was rather taken aback by the offer. "It sounds like it's important to you, I want to at least pay for it." "I won't hear of it!" Gloria giggled and waved a hand. "It's special, and I want someone to have it you can appreciate how special it is, nothing is worth any price for that!" "Well, if you insist." Mira smiled and nodded. "I'll take good care of it, I promise!" "I know you will. Until we meet again, what was your name?" "Mira, and I'll make sure to visit again. I better get home so I can make sure this stays safe!" Gloria and Mira said their goodbyes as Mira took off. The trip home was rather uneventful, with the woman coming into her apartment and taking a look at the cigarette holder closely for the first time. When she accepted it, it was moreso because Gloria cared for it so much. Mira didn't actually smoke, nor even own a carton of cigarettes in the first place so she couldn't actually use it for its intended purpose. Still, Mira did have a bit of fun posing it with, mimicking old pictures she saw of old actresses holding them and using them. It was a bit of silly fun for her, but while she had it, something strange was happening not just to her, but the world around her. The length of Mira's hair grew even longer than it once was, what once only reached the back of her neck now flowed all the way down to the center of her back. The auburn coloration of it altered as well, darkening into a light black, almost gray color. Mira's hair wasn't the only part that was gaining hair, but her body as well. Her face became a bit itchy as fur was starting to sprout from all over her head. It was a darker shade of black than the color of her new hair, matching that of the midnight sky. This completely coated Mira's head until any trace of skin was invisible to the naked eye, requiring effort to actually view due to just how thick the fur coat was. This same fur found itself growing over her ears. However, the insides of them would become an entirely different color, becoming bright pink as the shape of the ears enlarged into pointed tips as they became triangular. Afterward, the ears slowly traversed to the top of there head where they permanently remained. The muscles in them even altered, now capable of moving with her emotions rather than being static. Mira's face extended outward, protruding into a slight muzzle with the shape of it looking similar to a "3" on its side as thin hairs emerged out from each side of her new snout, now possessing a pair of whiskers. Her nose moved alongside all of this, now resting at the tip of her new muzzle in a cute pink color with a triangular shape. Despite the thick fur, a beauty mole could be seen on one of her cheeks. Makeup formed all around her face, with deep purple eyeshadow forming on her face along with mascara to make her eyes pop even more. The inside of her mouth would have the teeth sharpened, trading away their original shape for more pointed feline ones and leaving her entire head feminine. Even her voice sounded different. It sounded...older, a bit more mature and sultry compared to her usual tone. The fur continued to grow down Mira's body, covering her up until she now sported a full set of black fur, nothing visible underneath it as her shift towards a different species continued. This was perhaps most highlighted by the new appendage that formed just above her rear end. It was long and thin, about as long as her legs and barely didn't reach the ground. It ended in a circular tip and like the rest of her body, was covered in black fur. The digits of her toes pushed together and enlarged, two of them merging in with each other to only leave three behind. The nails of them shifted, becoming sharper as they became purely white, turning into retractable claws. The same happened to Mira's fingernails, leaving Mira as a cat woman. The changes didn't quite end there. Her figure altered a bit. Mira's more modest figure was becoming more amplified, with her chest puffing up and enlarging while her hips expanded out even further. The curvature of Mira's form was much more apparent, highlighting her femininity. Mira's outfit altered a fair bit too. Wrapping around her feet, Mira's shoes lost the tops of them entirely, only keeping the bottoms with the tips of them becoming pointed. The heels lifted off the ground as a small platform formed at the back of the former shoes, turning a red color as they became a pair of heels. Her pants and jacket merged together, the fabric becoming a bit softer as the pant legs merged into one, leaving them as a skirt. Alongside one of the legs, a cut formed to leave a slit that showed off some of Mira's furry leg and hip, especially if she leaned on it. The hood of the former jacket melted away, as would most of the sleeves, separating at the elbow. What was above the elbow to the shoulders vanished, leaving them exposed. What was left of the jacket became even with her former pants, the collar of it dipped down and revealing a bit of cleavage. The zipper connected the two segments melted away as it became one full garment - a beautiful sleeveless red dress. As for what remained of the former sleeves, they grew over her hands while the material became a silky white, tightening around her arms and hands as they became elbow-long gloves and with that, Mira was now a cat woman, dressed exactly like an actress would straight out of the 20s. The changes to Mira's body ended there, but not the world around her. Rapidly, color seemed to melt away. Any traces of greens, reds, blues, oranges, and any other color of the rainbow were gone. The only colors that remained were black and white, and the varying shades between them, with brighter objects having a lighter tint and darker ones darker. Even Mira's outfit was the same as with the rest of her body, no color, it was like she had stepped into an old black and white movie. In addition to the loss of color, modern technology was also vanishing. Computers, cell phones, game consoles, anything of the sort were gone. The idea of even storing data on tiny discs would be silly to anyone who wasn't any wiser about what the future held. Electricity was still around, albeit much more basic than before. The room Mira was in had altered greatly as well. Instead of her room, she was stood in a room with mirrors all over, along with a chair with the name "Tosha" stitched across the back of it. There was makeup, from lipstick to mascara to eyeshadow scattered across the counter of the vanity mirror, along with a large wardrobe of various outfits of varying colors, though only appeared as various shades of blacks and whites. "Wh-what happened...?" Mira stammered out, blushing out hearing how sultry her voice had become. Her eyes went to the mirror, seeing an elegant cat woman staring back. It moved with her reflection, and her eyes went down to her body in disbelief. "Where did I go!? Where did the color go? Why am I a cat?" she said in a panic, ears perking up when she heard a knock on the door. "Tosha? Are you okay in there?" a familiar voice came through the other side - it was Gloria's! Although, it sounded much younger than before. However, instead of saying what she wanted to say, her lips betrayed her. "Yes dear, I'm quite alright~!" she gave a coy laugh. "You may come in!" "Good, I have to get you ready for the shoot." Gloria laughed. It was undeniable, that was Gloria who entered, albeit much younger, but Mira found herself unable to control her body. It was as if she was on autopilot following a script as she sat in her chair and crossed her legs without thinking about it. "So how have you been Gloria, tell me everything darling. I do love your stories about the other actresses. Surely none of them are are lovely as me?" "You're still my favorite Tosha." Gloria reassured her with a laugh as she put her bag down on the counter. "Your co-star for your next picture is a real piece of work. Such a drama queen, demanding the interns do everything for her at the drop of a hat." "These young actresses are always so hot-blooded! I can't say I blame them, I used to be one too you know!" Mira laughed and waved her hand. "Took me a while to realize how silly I was being." The two spoke as if they had been friends their whole life. Although Mira did technically know Gloria, she would never talk like how she was! Half of what came out of her muzzle she didn't even understand, nor wanted to say in the first place. It was like she was a spectator in her own body, like she was watching a movie through a character's eyes. "And done!" Gloria said, pulling away from Mira's face. "You've outdown yourself again darling~!" Mira complimented her. "Be sure to give my best to Al~!" With that, Gloria said her goodbye as Mira got control of her body, feeling her face to make sure she did. "That was...so weird!" she said as she caught her breath, everything being so much to take in. The only thing she could be certain of was that she wasn't in her present timeline anymore, with Gloria being her only link. She seemed to have turned into the woman Gloria talked about back at the flea market, but why? Gloria didn't seem any wiser, and for whatever reason, she was talking and acting like this Tosha person when others were around! "Tosha, we're ready for you on set." one of the stage hands came to the dressing room, interpreting Mira's thoughts as she was suddenly pushed aside as "Tosha" took control yet again. "Lovely, let's have a good shoot. Can't have enough of me on film, and the public agrees!" she laughed, sauntering off with the stage hand, hips swaying much more than Mira normally would as she acted for the film crew, with lines Mira had never even heard of, let alone memorized! Tosha was taking full control while she was "on camera," both literally and whenever anyone who knew her came along. As for Mira, all she could do was play the part. If she tried to tell anyone the truth, the likelihood of anyone believing her would be less than zero, not to mention she would act like Tosha whenever she came across anyone else to add another layer to the problems. At the very least, it was fun acting, even if it wasn't technically her doing it! It did take some time to get used to not having modern conveniences, it took a lot of time to not instinctively go to check her cell phone, and it would be a while before that concept was even invented! While Mira was "off camera," she worked to try and figure out how to return, but that was difficult with how popular Tosha was and how often she starred in movies and attended parties!
