Kieros was nervously excited. She had been accepted for a trial at a science laboratory, and would be getting quite the hefty paycheck out of it. She wasn't sure what to expect, as there was no actual information on the job posting. Their office was a bit in the middle of nowhere, but had managed to find it without issue. She entered into the building, walking up to the directory to find the space she had to go to. After discovering it was on the fifth floor, she wasted no time in getting into the elevator and heading right for it. She entered the office space, being greeted with what looked like a doctor's office waiting room. She walked up to the front desk, where a polite looking man was sitting behind the glass. "Hello, do you have an appointment with us today?" "That I do!" Kieros nodded. "Kieros, I'm here for one of the trials you had going on today." "Ah, you're here for Doctor Strom." he said typing into the computer. "Yup, there's your appointment. Go ahead and take a seat and he'll come pick you up and take you to the back." Kieros nodded, and followed the receptionist's instructions. She looked around, seeing that it looked like no one had even sat in the waiting room for quite some time. A lot of the chairs were dusty, and she even saw some cobwebs in some of the corners. It didn't seem like whoever ran the place cleaned much, or they had a poor janitorial crew. She didn't have too much time to think about it, as a man opened up the door to the back and called out for her. "Kieros?" "Right here." she held up her hand and stood up. "Right this way please." he held the door open for her to walk past. She nodded, doing just that. The man closed the door behind him as he started to lead her towards one of the back rooms. "My name is Doctor Strom, do you know what you will be doing today?" he asked back to the woman. "Nothing beyond me being a part of a trial." she gave a small chuckle. "Lot of details were missing out." "Good." he said, though Kieros couldn't see his face, the little bit she did almost seemed like Doctor Strom's face as going into a smirk. "What am I doing anyways?" Kieros questioned with a raised eyebrow. "That is something that is better kept for the actual experiment. Do not worry, it will not hurt or anything like that. If all goes well, you'll be in and out in only a handful of minutes." "I'm in no rush." Kieros laughed. "This is the only thing I planned to do today, so you can take as long as you need!" "That won't be necessary." Doctor Strom shook his head. "We need to do these trials on a few different people. Different sexes, species, see what it works best on." "Okay..." Kieros nodded, her curiosity only raising from just exactly what it is they would be doing. Her questions would soon be answered as Doctor Strom opened a door at the end of the hallway. "Please, step inside and stand in the middle circle." Doctor Strom instructed. "I will head to the control panel and talk to you via the intercom." "Can do." Kieros obeyed, walking into the room and into the marked spot on the floor. The door closed behind her, and she was stuck waiting for whenever Doctor Strom's voice came on over the speakers in the room. She looked around, not noticing too much of note. In fact, the room was pretty much entirely empty sans for the markings on the ground that signaled where she needed to stand. "Alright, we'll be getting started now." Doctor Strom's voice spoke through the intercom. "Do I need to do anything else but stand here?" Kieros asked. "And what is going on? You still haven't told me that." "We're trying out some of our new inventions with transmutation of genes." he explained. "It is going to feel strange, like a chill is going through your spine constantly. Do not worry though, you and your belongings will be perfectly safe." "Transmutation of genes...?" Kieros questioned worriedly. "What exactly do you mean by that...?" "That is simple." Doctor Strom said. "The altercation of one's DNA in order to completely shift the appearance from one to another. We have developed technology capable of doing just that. Transformation, and if this works the way we want it do we can bring what was once fiction into reality." "So you're going to...transform me?" Kieros asked, starting to put all the pieces together. "Precisely. As I said, you will feel no pain. A strange sensation during the course of the changes, but it will be an overall pleasurable experience for you." Doctor Strom explained. "You might be thinking you want to back out, but unfortunately it's much too late for that. You signed a contract when you agreed to this trial. Do not worry, as I said you are in no danger." "If you say so..." Kieros nodded slowly, though not fully believing in Doctor Strom's words. "Excellent. Now then, let us begin the procedure. If all goes well, you will be standing there in a completely new body." Kieros took a deep breath, trying her best to stay calm and relaxed. This wasn't what she was expecting, but she was already in this deep, may as well finish the mile! She heard the movement of machines, as panels sliding open as what looked to be hoses emerged out of them. They surrounded her, and began spraying out a thin mist all over her body. Afterwards, they went back into the walls and floors, the room becoming empty again. However, the mist it sprayed would start to enter into her body, both through her nose and pores. This would in turn attach to her genes, of which would initiate the transmutation of DNA. Kieros' white mask would start to shrink upward dramatically. More of it grew around the sides and back of her head. It uncovered her face, the ears of them becoming completely flat. The top rounded out in a circular shape, becoming more of a helmet than a mask. The white color would form different shades, with the center of it becoming a light blue, the lower part turning purple. Emerging out from the tip of it, a brown addition formed that acted as a kind of visor, with the shape of a bird's beak. Yellow orbs merged out from the purple, perfectly circling around the helmet. More orange dots formed going down the center of the helmet, with a kind of fin raise forming from the center. The backside of it extended outward a bit, forming into a triangular, featherlike appearance with the tips of them becoming yellow. Kieros' head, now fully revealed would quickly shift just as quickly as her mask had. Her hair became much straighter, falling down to a little past her shoulders. The color of it lightened drastically, taking on a bright yellow blond color. Kieros' new hairdo completely covered up her ears. The color of Kieros' head started to change, becoming an almost lime-like green. More of Kieros' body shifted, most notably her arms and hands. Her arms became much wider, with pink feathers starting to sprout up from them. This continued up to where her wrists were, where they grew into even larger sizes, separating into five different digits not too unlike how her fingers once were. The pink ended off with arrowhead shapes, with another laying forming underneath in a more defined point. These feathers were light blue in color, with gold lining the ends of them. Lastly, the largest of these "digits" would be a creamy white color, also ending up in the same triangular shape. These new arms would become stronger, capable of supporting much more weight, the wings now giving her the capability of flight. Many changes continued to her outfit, with her scarf separating into four long strands. These would become thick, the back connecting to her chest. The coloration of it shifted into a yellowish gold. More of the remnants of the scarf would stay around the neck, a golden necklace with a ruby forming on it. Lastly, two golden straps formed that would connect to a soon to form breast plate. This would come to life thanks to her sweater. The sleeves practically melted away entirely, with the shoulders forming out into points and becoming shoulder pads. The front of it melted away and shifted into multiple colors. It was light blue and the sides, with it transitioning into purple at the chest. The front would form into the aforementioned breastplate, with the cups being purple and the section between them blue. The now exposed skin making up the most of her torso past the chest would took on the same green color that her face had, with the same happening to her legs. Emerging out from her hips, an entirely new garment formed out. It was skirt-like, growing all the way down to her ankles. Around the waist was gold plated, with the skirt part being light blue closer to the gold, and turning into pink as it grew downward. The tips were golden tipped as well, with a cloth between the legs that had pink and blue markings on it, along with gold linings. Kieros' pants would ride up her legs, stopping just past her knees. They tightened around her legs, changing into a dark blue color that wasn't too unlike her breastplate. Kieros' shoes vanished entirely, and the changes to her legs would be fully visible. They hardened, taking on a yellow color as they separated with lines going down them. Kieros' feet went up onto the toes, shifting into a digitigrade posture. Her toes would lose two digits, leaving only three behind. The toes became thinner and longer, the nails turning into black claws as her legs and feet became avian talons. Emerging out from her backside, more feathers would sprout out, becoming a large ruffle of creamy white tailfeathers. And with that, Kieros' physical changes came to a close. However, a siren formed in the room, of which Kieros' was too dazed to pay attention to. Mentally, her mind was racing, trying to unscramble itself. Unluckily for Kieros, it wasn't unscrambling in a way that would be Kieros. In fact, she was seeing herself as someone else entirely, in an entirely different situation. She was Assembled Nightingale, a member of the Lyrilusc. She and her colorful feathers was one of the best performers, and acted as a mentor to the rest of the Lyrilusc, all of which were human and bird hybrids just like herself. She retained no knowledge of being here for a science trial. In fact, she didn't know why she was here at all. The sirens however were concerning. She looked around, seeing the glass window above. The rest of the Lyrilusc were likely worried about her, so she had to get back to them as soon as possible! She took a deep breath before jumping up and flying through, headed off to rejoin them and continue her teachings and performances! "Hey! Stop right there!" Doctor Strom called out to her but it was all too late, Kieros was gone, Assembled Nightingale completely taking her place and leaving any trace of Kieros gone with the wind. "Well...that is an interesting development." he spoke, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a recorder. "Subject log 3, subject successfully transformed into another creature. However, creature seemed to have no recollection of who they once were. Perhaps one of the mists are faulty, or perhaps it was a bad reaction based on the subject's existing DNA. Further testing will have to be conducted. Sights on initial subject have been lost, will delete their information from the files. End session for subject 3."
