Technomancer Real name: Dr. Marcus Longfoot Gender: Male Species: Brown furred rabbit Age: 25 Height: 5'7" Weight: 150 lbs Eyes: Green Hair: Brown, worn short Orientation: Heterosexual Political Alignment: Anti-Registration Metabeing Status: Baseline genius Description: A lean male rabbit of medium height. Body is athletic but not particularly muscular, more tone then bulk. Limbs are slender yet similarly toned, ending in five digit appendages. Fur pattern is an uninterrupted light chocolate brown with his hair being a darker shade of the same color. When not in his armor or labcoat, he prefers a semi-relaxed look of slacks, buttoned shirt, and a sweater if the season requires it. Personality: A particularly bright fellow, Marcus is in many regards a classic genius. Intelligent and highly analytical, yet his experience in interacting with others is somewhat lacking. As a result he often ends up "putting his foot in his mouth" even when his intentions are beign and frequently replies with explanations laced with "technobabble." While close friends are used to his eccentricities and understand his "gibberish" well enough to translate, his lack of interaction with normal people has hindered him on at least one occasion. Biography: Born into a family with a long tradition of police work and public service, even at an early age it was quite clear that the young Longfoot was meant for a different path. At the age of six he was assembling model kits designed for a child ten years older then him, at twelve he was put into high school because his intelligence was quickly outstripping his teacher's ability to educate him. At sixteen, he graduated from high school with honors and was enrolled in the state university's engineering program. While proud of their son, Marcus's parents were admittedly a bit disappointed that he didn't focus his studies in forensic science or criminal justice. But the rabbit's one true passion was always engineering, building newer and better things. Conducting research in new sensor technology, Marcus earned his first PhD from MIT at nineteen, earning other doctorates in engineering over the following two years. Yet as impressive as his meteoric rise was, Marcus started to feel a bit lost. His work was making headway in his field yet at the same time he wasn't making anything "new" that benefited anyone. Unfortunately, it would take a tragedy to give him the needed focus. In the summer of 2004, the then new "beserker" villian Ironhand went on his first major rampage in Longfoot's home of New York City. Amongst the dead and injuried was Marcus's father, then the captain of the city's largest police precient. The elder rabbit survived his ordeal but at the same time his career was over. If his crippled legs didn't ensure he would never do police work again, the stress and mental trauma of the incident made sure he went into early retirement. This event struck far too close for the prodigy's taste, many of the dead were close friends of the family and the thought of not seeing any of them again left him cold. Rather then give into despair, he decided to do what he normally did when confronted with a problem, look for ways to solve it. Eventually he reached a wall with his research, lacking the capital to assemble a working prototype. Sighing, he then turned his thoughts towards the uneviable task of applying for a research grant. After navigating corporate and government grants for nearly two weeks, the rabbit finally stumbled upon a small research company called Aeres Defense Solutions, an R&D think tank for the development of body armor and personal protection devices. After filling out the paperwork, Marcus was accepted and resumed his work in earnest. Unfortunately, the company was a front for the Fourth Reich. The neo-nazis were operating a scheme to secure new armor designs for their stormtrooper regiments. Once the prototypes were complete, Reich agents would collect them and deal with the creators. Unfortunately, Marcus and the others eventually figured out the scam and decided to make sure their technology didn't fall into the hands of facists. With the lab and all records of the scientists and their research destoryed save the prototypes, the designers parted ways. Shortly afterwards, an investigation into the destruction of the facility revealed the connect between Aeres and the Fourth Reich. The scandel ate into Marcus more then he realized at first, planting a small seed of paranoia that made it difficult for him to find new people to trust with his armor. For the most part he resigned himself to university teaching, leaving the armor to collect dust in a closet. For awhile he refused to even acknowledge the escapade, burying himself in busy work until the first year anniversey of Ironhide's violent debut. Joining his family on a cool evening visit to the cemetary where his father's friends were buried, the rabbit slightly stood in contemplation. When the rest of his family headed home, Longfoot stayed behind, standing in front of the graves of good people. After several minutes longer he had made up his mind, there still much research to be done... Skills: Combatively Technomancer is a decent fighter, no match for a master of the martial arts or an Olympic swordsman but still no slouch when it comes to fighting with either fists or melee weapons. Firearms on the other hand are a different story, one that isn't helped by the fact that he can be somewhat skittish around them. Scholaristically is where he particularly shines, holding PhDs in several engineering disciplines (electronic, mechanical, material, and nanotechnological) and a passable understanding of many other subjects such as chemistry, high-technology, and even art and literature. One notable exception to this passing knowledge outside of his speciality is his love for the violin. While having never sung or picked up any other instrument in his life, his skill with strings is such that if science never worked out he could have made a respectible living as a concert violinist. Domestically, he is a poor cook yet manages to give whole new meaning to the phrase "neat as a pin." Unfortunately, at times he is fixated with cleaniness to the point of obsession. While normally in control of this minor complusion, being confronted with exceptionally filthy conditions can drive him over the edge. Gear description: An "armored gadgeteer" walking a line between a gadget user and full-on powersuit pilot, Technomancer's equipment is one of several designs intended for police use before the ADS scandel of 2005. On an average case/adventure, he can be found with the following: - Ultralight Battlesuit "Preatorian": A powersuit originally designed for general police use, the Preatorian model is a prototype ultralight class suit. While quite respectible against bullets and blades and gives reasonable strength and speed, it is largely ineffective against environmental hazards and energy weapons; lacking many of the advanced protections enjoyed by geniuses who favor the larger, heavier classes of suits. - Taser bolo - Shock gauntlet 2X - Utility belt. On average the belt contains two gas and smoke grenades, one multitool, one compact set of lockpicks, and one handheld "forensic" tool capable of analyzing most chemical substances. Other gadgets are fitted as the situation calls for it.
