Tired of this game called a dungeon, Puck, Kuro, Jin, and Lola proceeded to grab a poffin. As each one picked their prize, a light illuminated them in different colors. Jin was the first to finish his poffin before a voice thundered “Two-time multiplier!” The others had no chance to relax as Lola received a “Three-time multiplier,” Kuro a “five-time multiplier,” and Puck a “ten-time multiplier!” They all agreed on one thing; the growth from the Poffins was a lot faster than their other growths. In a blink and you’d miss it moment, Jin’s height shot up to 260 feet, Lola rose to 345 feet, Kuro’s height rested at 1,325 feet, while Puck’s height had his head resting on the ceiling at 1,450 feet. “Yes,” Kuro’s voice thundered out when he witnessed Puck became the new leader in height. Puck wanted to retaliate, but their moment of rest turned to another drop as the floor crumbled to dust. Puck grabbed Jin while Kuro shielded Lola from the fall. The dust cloud that the group created soon rested back on the ground, Jin and Lola coughing from the amount they inhaled. As they began to stand to survey their new surroundings, Jin checked their auras to see if he could find out why this was happening. As he strained his neck to check Kuro and Puck, he was surprised to see their auras change in colors. “Um, don’t want to alarm anybody, but…your auras are changing into Dynamax energy.” “And with that, it looks like you have arrived! Welcome, to level three!” Like before, their MC was no where to be seen, but it didn’t stop the group from looking around as they tried to ignore the voice before they reached a fork in their path. “Oh no! Looks like your group has to split up! Quick, does everyone have their dungeon buddy?” A wall fell from the ceiling, splitting the group; Kuro and Lola stood on one side while Puck and Jin were on the other side. “Surprise challenge: both teams have to make it to the end of the path, find a key along the way before joining back up with your other friends.” Their MC could tell they needed more incentive to finish his game. “The winning team will be awarded 100 candies; don’t forget that the one who has the most will earn a special prize.” Both teams were soon greeted by a timer projected at the end of their paths. “If your team can beat the timer, you get to steal the other’s candies too.” An airhorn blasted in the dungeon signaling the start of their next minigame. --- Kuro rushed forward, Lola quickly following behind him; neither one wanting to lose this challenge. Lola hopped, dodging darts that sprung from the trap that Kuro had activated; one landed, changing her height to 395 feet. In retaliation, Lola triggered a trap that drenched Kuro in slime, growing him to 1,525 feet. As they ran towards their goal, Lola yelled to get Kuro’s attention; Kuro threw Lola towards the ceiling as she grabbed the key before landing on the ground. --- Jin was the first to move on the other side, Puck catching up with one step. Puck activated a trap, getting hit by a laser; Jin, laughing at his bigger friend, failed to notice the pitfall in front of him. Not stopping, Puck offered his hand to Jin as they continued their way down the path; Puck’s height now stood at 1,750 feet, Jin at 760 feet. Puck missed the key as they ran, luckily Jin was a smaller size to notice the shiny golden key. --- Both parties were out of breath by the end of their race; Kuro and Lola arrived a second before Puck and Jin. Candy fell, landing in front of the winners while Puck and Jin handed theirs over to Lola and Kuro. “Congratulations and thank you for finding my keys!” Silence was their reply as they placed the keys into a basket before them. “You four are almost out,” the MC told them, lighting up the single path before them. “Go down this path, play one more minigame, and you’re out.” Ignoring the voice as they walked, Puck’s explanation of Mythical Pokémon was interrupted by Lola stepping on a confetti boulder while getting a dart to her arm. She rose higher than Puck, stopping at 2,085 feet. “Come on,” she yelled out, punching the wall; she had reached her limit on the growing shenanigans. Her anger subsided when by the time they reached the final checkpoint. Food and drinks were blocked by a Tyranitar who matched Lola in height. Everyone was surprised at seeing someone new in the dungeon. Clearing her throat, the Tyranitar pulled out a deck of cards. “Welcome to the final checkpoint,” she knelt down to whisper to everyone, “I’m only a temp; I’m not with whoever is doing this.” The group nodded as she began to shuffle the cards. “The game is simple enough; one of you has to chose if the next card is higher or lower three times; every time you’re wrong, you have to grow.” Jin became the volunteer for the group as the first card was shown: it was a 2 of spades. “Higher,” Jin answered before the Tyranitar pulled the next card. “Eight of clubs, congrats,” she smiled as a chime echoed behind her. “Lower,” Jin chose, his voice almost asking his answer. Revealing the next card, the group groaned as a “Nine of diamonds, maybe the last card will be in your favor.” Jin nodded. “Higher,” he responded, believing the odds to be in his favor. The last card was a nine of hearts. “Um…” she paused, unsure of how to call it. Their MC joined through the speakers, “Ooh, so close. Unfortunately, ties are counted as a loss.” Used to the sensation, Jin seemed unfazed as his body grew another 500 feet, bringing his new height to 1,260 feet. The Tyranitar stood up, revealing their next rest stop. “I’m not much of a fan of this place, but I get paid hourly to just sit and wait for people; you four are the first to make it here since I started.” As she walked down the path after the rest stop, the group could hear her yell, “It was fun, but my contract was only until someone made it to me.” In a lower voice, she mumbled “Not complaining, but he could’ve done this all by himself.” As she faded from view, Jin rolled his eyes; their rest was on a timer of five minutes. Scarfing down the food and drinks that were laid out for them, they were ready and angry to finish the dungeon. “I had an idea,” their friendly MC’s voice echoed. “Since this is the final stretch…let’s turn it into one last game. “So, you’ve chosen violence,” Lola growled out as she popped her knuckles. “I-I mean, only the guys…please don’t hurt me, I bruise easily. Kuro is in the lead with candies, but it’s still anybody’s game. The first one to leave the dungeon will get the special prize!” Silence. Coughing to cover the awkwardness, the MC added, “Everyone already one the grand prize, so can you play along? Your heights will be reset once you’re out. I-I’ll even let you bring four friends each!” Lola’s personality switched back to her happy demeanor. “I mean, it’s only one more game.” She hopped in place, loosening her muscles as the others lined up beside her. Lights illuminated the path, starting at red before swapping to green. Kuro instantly triggered a trap, being the only one to get hit by a dart. They didn’t care as Kuro exploded to 4,575 feet, gaining the lead due to his new height. The gloves were off when he heard Puck laugh at him for being the only one to grow from a dart; Kuro slammed his fist into the wall as he continued to run towards the exit. Boulders the size of Jin’s paw rained down from the ceiling, exploding into confetti around him as his body pulsed to 6,300 feet. Puck tried to pass the two bigger contestants, not noticing Lola jump on his shoulders, forcing him to eat dirt. “Sorry,” she laughed, gaining the lead before Jin tripped her. Light from the outside could be seen as Kuro became the first to leave the dungeon; he was zapped before his foot could make contact with the ground. The sudden change had Kuro tripped; he had enough time to roll onto his back to see his colossal friends emerge from the dungeon. Shielding his face before Jin could stomp him into the ground, Kuro let out a groan when Jin too tripped from the change in height. Lola and Puck landed on the other two, their heights returned to normal before joining the dogpile. The stars were out, their light bright due to where they were; the group had emerged in the Dynamax fields. As they helped each other off the ground, they were met by their MC. “Congratulations on defeating the dungeon,” he called out, gaining their undivided attention. “That’s a Buizel, isn’t it,” Jin asked. “Any way you can make Puck bigger again? I find amusement with how he reacts,” Kuro told the Buizel, not expecting him to grow Puck. “Sure,” he said, pulling out a growth ray and striking Puck with it. “I hate you, you know that,” Puck growled out as he stood at thirty feet. “I’m adorable,” Kuro countered, laughing at his oversized friend. “Mattress,” Jin whispered, ready to call it a day. “How’s the view up there,” Lola asked. Before Puck could respond to any of them, the Buizel spoke up once more. “Once you give me your candies, you’ll each get your passes to the Resort Area; and the growth should only last half an hour.” Kuro was the last to hand over the candies; the Buizel handed him the growth ray that he used on Puck. “And here’s your special prize! It uses the Technical Machines Growth and Minimize on whatever the target is. Don’t worry about a power source, it uses a gem that I got from a Diancie I knew in college, so it’ll never run out of energy.” Kuro stared in amazement at his prize. “The best part is it can’t be undone by any ability or artifact.” He had disappeared in a flash; the group had witnessed the only Buizel that knew Teleport. Puck flinched at the evil grin Kuro held; his next adventure would be…interesting. They made their way back to the city, splitting up once they were out of the Dynamax fields; Puck had returned to normal before they arrived. Puck got Lola and Jin’s numbers before they went their separate ways. “I guess I’ll see you in the Resort Area,” Puck told Kuro, who shook his head. “Nope, you’re not getting rid of me that easily. I still don’t know how this works, so thanks for volunteering.”
