Imagine, if you will... A world in which almost all life has been eradicated. Nothing to see but an endless void of death, for miles and miles, and miles more. Caused by nothing less than pure anarchy. Or, rather, nuclear warfare gone awry. Radiation fills the air, and can kill you in mere seconds, should you be one of the few unfortunate organisms to survive the relentless onslaught of atomic destruction. Food and water resources are scarce, forcing any living creature to scrounge the wastes for anything at all to sustain themselves. This, of course, is not the world we live in at this moment. And it most likely never will be. But for Michelle, a 23-year-old skunk girl, it was more or less deemed to be an inevitable outcome. See, the talk of the town was that a few of the local clans were at war with one another. Each clan wanted to gain the other's territory in The Empire, a large organization of skunk women slowly taking control over the planet. Michelle had been invited to join their cause in the past, but harshly declined. She did not trust them whatsoever, viewing their intentions as immoral, to say the least. The worst part was that rumors stated some of those clans had access to experimental nuclear weapons, and this was enough for Michelle to assume the worst. But, not all hope was lost for Michelle. Because she had prepared specifically for a circumstance such as this. Michelle was what one might call a "prepper", someone who believes in the concept of a nuclear holocaust arriving in the future, and take the precautions needed to survive such an event. In fact, she had a bomb shelter built in her backyard about a year ago. The shelter was filled with food and water to last for months, and was the single most secure structure around. Everyone in town used to think she was absolutely insane. But once the rumors of possible nuclear warfare started spreading, they changed their minds pretty quickly, as if none of it ever happened. They all asked Michelle to help them, only to be rejected, of course. "Hell no!", she would respond. "Why on Earth would I help any of you after you ridiculed me for years?" She had her mind made up. Nobody would be accompanying her in the shelter. Everyone else would just have to find their own protection from the blasts. However, one person would eventually convince her otherwise. Kevin was just an ordinary guy who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. A 25-year-old human male, looking for a little adventure. He was from out of town, and came for a day trip to get away from the city for a bit. When he pulled up into the peaceful little town he had heard about, however, it appeared as though it was completely uninhabited. He looked around, more than a bit confused. "Uh... What's going on here?", he thought. "Where is everyone?" Kevin noticed closed shops, boarded up doors and windows, and not a single sound but that of the gentle breeze. He got out of his car and decided to investigate, looking for some sort of answer to what exactly had happened. "Perhaps this town is scheduled to be demolished...", he said to himself. "That'd be pretty sucky. After all, I just got here." He chuckled slightly. He strolled around town, looking for any sort of clues. But, he wouldn't have to look much longer until he would find an answer to his questions. Michelle wandered the streets of the little town, taking one last look at the place she had grown up in. "I'm gonna miss this old place.", she thought. She was very unhappy about the thought of it all being blown to bits. And even though she was hated and untrusted by all the locals, not only for being considered crazy, but for also being a skunk girl, the town itself would always have a special place in her heart. She was about ready to go home and get in her shelter. But, as soon as she turned a corner, something unexpected happened. She ran into someone. Quite literally, in fact. "Ow!", exclaimed Kevin. He was caught off guard, falling right on his behind. "Oh, crap! S-sorry!", Michelle yelled out, in response to her little accident. "I didn't really think anyone would be out right now." Kevin brushed himself off, chuckling. "That's funny, neither did... I..." He looked up at Michelle. He noticed her... strange features. Most notably, her big, black and white striped tail. He immediately got up, and started backing away. "Wait a minute! Y-you're one of those skunk chicks! The ones taking over the world!", he yelled, afraid of what she might do to him. But this only seemed to confuse Michelle. "Well... Yes and no. I'm not really with The Empire, if that's what you mean.", she replied. "Of course, everyone in town knows that." She then took another look at Kevin. "Actually...I don't think I know you." Kevin lowered his guard a bit, relieved that she wasn't going to hurt him, and composing himself. "Y-yeah... Probably not. I'm from out of town. Is... something going on here? There are more people other than you here...right?" Michelle sighed. "Yeah... But not for long. They're all about to be wiped out by an atomic blast. Good riddance. They're all a bunch of jerks." Kevin was taken aback by what she had just said. "A-atomic blast?! What are you talking about?" Michelle simply scratch her neck, trying to think of how to respond. "Look, it's a long story." She said. "I'll explain in a little bit. Just come with me, alright?" She then took him by the arm, and started to drag him. "Oh, alright. I guess." He didn't think it possible, but Kevin was now even more confused than when he arrived. After a few minutes of walking through the quiet little town, they had arrived at Michelle's house. Kevin began to look around, chuckling. "I really hope this is your house we're at, and you're not just dragging me into some sort of looting escapade." Michelle rolled her eyes. "Yeah, yeah, hilarious. Yes, this is my house. Now, come on, it's this way. We'll be safe here." "What's this way? Safe... where?" Kevin pondered her statement, until she took him around back to what looked like some sort of steel door in the ground. "Whoa, is this one of those fallout shelters? I think my cousin has one of those." Michelle laughed. "Yeah, everybody should. Of course, not everyone agrees with me. I'm just some crazy girl." After her little rant, she began to open the hatch leading into the shelter, her tail tensing up as she struggled to get it open. Kevin then grabbed ahold of the hatch, helping Michelle to get it open. It popped open with a slight creek. "...thanks.", said Michelle, somewhat annoyed. Kevin simply smirked. "Okay, get in.", Michelle said, abruptly. "Whoa, whoa, whoa, what? I'm not going down there until you tell me what exactly is going on. You still haven't told me, remember? Hell, you haven't even told me your name!" Kevin was very frustrated, clearly wanting some answers. Michelle exploded. "Look, I'll tell you everything when we're down there, I promise! You don't understand, we could run out of time any minute now!" Michelle then started climbing down the ladder into the bunker herself. "You have about 10 seconds to get down here before I shut the hatch. Your choice." "Fine, alright. I'm coming in." Kevin then climbed down after her, making sure to carefully monitor his footing on the ladder. Once inside the bunker, Michelle began to press a few buttons on a panel next to the ladder. This caused a chime to sound, and the hatch proceeded to close and lock. "There, that should hold nicely.", she said. Although, Kevin wasn't paying very much attention. He was too busy surveying the bunker, amazed at its features. It was almost in perfect shape, and had all the necessary provisions for a disastrous situation. Granted, it was a bit cramped, only being about the size of a small bedroom. He was still very impressed, though. "Wow... You really went all out with this thing, didn't you?" This made Michelle smile. "Of course. You get what you pay for, after all." She shook her head in indifference. "But enough about the bunker. I believe I owe you some answers now. Have a seat, if you would." She then pointed to a bed. Kevin looked over. "Um... alright.", he said, before taking a seat on the bed. Michelle took a seat on an office chair in front of the desk, beside the bed. She then began to explain things a little. "Okay... First of all, my name is Michelle. I'm a skunk girl, as you can see." She then swished her tail a bit, providing evidence for her words. Kevin chuckled. "Y-yeah, I think we covered that part. And um... I'm Kevin, by the way." He extend his arm, so as to shake Michelle's hand. She understood this, and proceed to shake hands. "Nice to meet you, Kevin. Although, I do wish it were under better circumstances. Which, of course, brings me to my next topic." She then leaned in closer to Kevin. "This little town is, most likely, going to be hit by an atomic bomb, Kevin." "Y-yeah... You said something earlier about an 'atomic blast'. I was wondering what that was about. But... by whom, exactly?" Michelle sighed. "The Empire. Or, more specifically, one of two of the Empire's subdivisions, fighting over territory. Their camps are no more than a few miles outside of town." Kevin interrupted. "The Empire... You mean the army of skunk girls, right? The ones that look like you?" "Yes, that's right." Michelle continued. "Of course, I'm not with them, obviously. Some skunk folks, like myself, reject the ideas of the Empire, and seek to live our own, independent lives. Now, this mostly consists of the male skunk people, who are cast out of the Empire, if not kept as powerless slaves, used for little more than breeding. However, with myself as an example, this isn't inherently the case. Any questions so far?" Kevin scratched his head. "Um... No, continue." Per his request, Michelle resumed her explanation. "So, rumor around town is that the local divisions of the Empire have acquired nuclear weapons of some sort. And, given the fact that they're currently having a dispute, and knowing how over zealous the Empire can be, I don't doubt that they would use these weapons against each other, leaving this little town caught in the crossfire. Which means 'Bye-bye, town',ust obviously." Kevin's eyes widened. "Ohhh... I get it now. That's... not good. Like, at all. But, that's why you have this bomb shelter, right?" "Um... Sort of.", Michelle replied. "I had it built just for general protection against the Empire. But, I'll be honest. I had never actually suspected that the threat of the Empire would reach atomic levels, no pun intended. I just had a feeling that their agenda would cause mass destruction in some form or another, whether it be sooner or later." She then leaned back in her chair. "So, yeah. That about sums it up." Kevin looked around, still admiring the structure. Suddenly, he heard an abrupt noise. Like a low rumble. Michelle then put her hand on her stomach. "Sorry... That was me.", she said. "I'm a bit hungry." She then got up and walked over to a shelf that was packed tight with various canned foods. "You want anything?" Kevin shook his head. "No... I think I'm good for now." Michelle shrugged. "Suit yourself." She then grabbed a can of baked beans, and pried it open. She grabbed a spoon from a drawer on the desk, and began to chow down. Kevin was laying on the bed, reflecting on everything Michelle had told him, and the predicament he had gotten himself into. He then spoke up. "So... Exactly how long until the 'nuclear weapons' are suspected to be used?" Michelle was completely lost in her humble meal. She replied, mouth still full. "Don't worry about it. I've got it all taken care of... Just get comfy, alright?" A few minutes later, Kevin was trying to relax, per Michelle's request. Another noise erupted from the skunk girl's stomach, however. Kevin laughed. "Don't tell me you're still hungry." Michelle shook her head, somewhat embarrassed. "No... I'm actually having...distress. The beans probably weren't the best choice. Although, most of these cans are beans, good for protein. But... I guess I didn't really consider the side-effects." Her stomach rumbled once again. "Please, forgive me, but I'm probably gonna have to relieve myself a bit." Kevin rolled his eyes, chuckling. "Sure... Knock yourself out." However, he would soon come to realize the intensity of what was about to take place. *PRRRRRRRRT* A thunderous gas storm came rushing out of Michelle's cheeks. She blushed, but still giggled slightly. "God, that felt good." Kevin rolled back over in the bed. He didn't mind her little emission. That was, of course, before the smell hit him. It was absolutely rancid. He began to gag slightly, covering his nose and mouth. "Damn, Michelle... You didn't tell me it would be that bad... *Cough*" This made her smile. "You said I could... I didn't think you'd mind so much." Her stomach then grumbled again. Kevin's eyes widened. "No... Please don't do it again." Michelle groaned. "I don't know if I'll have a choice, unfortunately. I don't know how long I'll be able to hold it back, but I'll try." Her stomach continued to writhe in distress. She tried her best to hold it, however. "C'mon...", she said, trying to contain herself. "Just calm down, Michelle..." Her stomach wasn't going to be having any of it, though. *PPPPPPRRRRRRTTTTT* Another noxious fart erupted from her skunky ass, even bigger than the last. It soon began to spread throughout the cramped little bunker. "S-sorry! I tried, I promise!" It hit Kevin hard this time. The stench was completely unbearable. He began to cough and gag violently. He felt like he was going to throw up. "Holy shit... Doesn't this thing have vents or something? I'm practically dying over here!" "Sorry, no. It's basically airtight... Other than the filtration system in the floor that recycles the oxygen once per day." "You've gotta be kidding..." Kevin replied, severely concerned for his own safety. *PFFFFFFRRRT* Another gas blast from Michelle's rump. It sent Kevin into another gagging fit, reeking worse than the first two combined. "Holy shit... I've gotta get out of here. Sorry, Michelle. Best of luck with the nuclear war or whatever." He got up, and frantically started fiddling with the panel next to the ladder, trying to figure out how to open the hatch. "Um... That's not going to work, Kevin.", said Michelle. "Then get over here and help me!" Kevin was still cough and gagging as he said this. "I can't... It's locked.", Michelle said, sheepishly. "I put a timed lock down on it. It'll unlock itself again in about...three months. I figured that would give us plenty of time to let the radiation clear once the war is over." Kevin's heart sank. "You... what?" He couldn't believe what she just said. This girl was insane, he thought. "I'm really sorry, I guess I probably should have told you sooner. My mind was kinda on trying not to be blown up, Kevin. I'm sure you'll get used to the smell eventually, though." Michelle then ripped another deadly fart, causing the bunker to be completely filled with her stench at this point. Kevin heard this as he continued trying desperately to open the hatch. The smell then came his way, putting him in even more of a panic. "Heeeelp! Someone, please help me!" It was no use, though. It would be basically impossible for anyone on the surface to hear him. The next day, the people in town started to come out of their houses as good news began to spread regarding the Empire. The two clans that were at war had managed to solve their dispute nonviolently, teaming up together into a larger subdivision, with permission from the Empress herself. Everyone in town rejoiced, as they no longer had anything to worry about. Of course, it was never found out whether or not the Empire had access to such deadly weapons, nor was it clear who started the rumor in the first place. As for Kevin and Michelle, however, they would have to wait quite a while to discover this news. They would be forced to get to know each other very personally. And Kevin, specifically, would have no choice but to endure...a rather different form of nuclear onslaught.
