The fireworks continued with the first few innings, as the Bombers hit Charleston's pitcher Ginger Thompson hard, racking up 5 runs in the first four runs. Though the Swamp Foxes' bullpen was warming up from the middle of the fourth on, something seemed to keep Larry Howe from pulling Thompson. With the backup of her manager spurring her on, Thompson dug in, allowing only a single run from there on, giving the Foxes the chance they needed to explode in the ninth, slamming hard into the two most talented pitchers in the Bombers' bullpen to come on top in Game 1, leaving the fans shocked as Juanita Olivares shook off her jitters from last year to slam the door on the game.
