Mobius, a world of heroes and struggles. The world of the Blue Flash and his scores of friends. But not all stories are born purely of war and struggle. Many of the world's greatest stories were forged during peace and many of the greatest struggles were between friends and family. This is their chronicles of those stories. A time of peace and prosperity. A time of clashes and reverence. Book Two: To the Youth; It had been nearly two weeks since things in Nivra started calming to what they once were. Ratchet the cat and Kyle the hedgehog were now living together in Ratchet's quaint workshop home and the purple hedgehog had discovered where he belonged in the world. However, there was still much to be learned. Ratchet was still new to the dating scene and still had much to learn about keeping not only herself happy, but a companion as well. She had managed rather well, however, and the two spent every day happily. One person in the relationship, however, had been affected. Ratchet's young protégé, Miles "Tails" Prower. His role in Ratchet's life had been as her lab assistant and confidant. Though he is young and naive, he still listened very well. His judgment of character had always been rather well developed and he trusted Kyle with his friend. But what he didn't understand is how much it had changed Ratchet. She seemed less distant now. It made it a great deal easier to talk with her and she seemed much happier lately. "Ratchet?" Tails would often ask. "How did you become so happy so quickly?" The only answer the blue cat would ever give him was a smile and a glance toward Kyle. The fox was smart, but even he had a hard time wrapping his mind around such an illogical process as love. On that day, two weeks after Ratchet found her love, Tails finally discovered what it was all about. On his daily commute from his beach side home to the other side of town just outside the city limits to Ratchet's, Tails saw an old friend and familiar face. There, next to a moving truck and newly bought home, was the young Cream the Rabbit; long time friend of Tails and the Sonic crew. "HEY! Cream! What are you doing in Nivra?!" Tails said excitedly, running over to greet his old friend. "It's been almost three years since I've seen you!" "Oh! Mister Prower! It has been some time, hasn't it!?" the young woman said politely, bowing as Tails approached, her long ears flopping down toward the ground and then back around her when she lifted her head. "Oh, you should know to call me Tails by now. Or at least Miles. I hate being called by my last name," Tails said, rubbing the back of his head nervously. Cream smiled sweetly and giggled. "Okay, Tails. I still have that old habit ingrained in me," Cream said, laughing slightly. Tails, being the observant boy he is, took a good look at Cream after the greeting. It had been three years since their last meeting. Back then, the two were very much adolescents. Not yet accustom to the adult life. Now, they were by all means young adults. Cream had grown into her new body rather well. Her petit curves flowed evenly and she had grown quite a big, her legs becoming long and elegant. Her ears were still the same proportion to her as they once were, but were much more smooth and thin, matching her new curves like a dew drop on a rose. Her smile was still the same. Tails remembered that vividly. Strangely, as Tails looked at her, he couldn't help but feel a tingle in his stomach. A feeling that was strangely satisfying to the young lad. "So how is the old gang? Since you all moved on, mother and I have been so bored," Cream asked with a delicate smile. "Oh, they're...doing well...I suppose," Tails said nervously. The sweat that formed on Tails' brow was hidden rather well by his fur, but he felt it. What's more is that he couldn't understand why it was there. Cream giggled once more and fiddled with her skirt brim. "Well that's good. I'll have to catch up with Miss Amy again. She was so much fun back when we were going on adventures all the time!" the young rabbit said cheerfully. Tails laughed a little and rubbed the back of his neck. "Yeah, Amy is still her old self. Only, not so obsessed with Sonic anymore. She's calmed down quite a bit since moving here," Tails explained. "Oh, how delightful! It really is a shame that she could never catch Mister Sonic, though. Those two would be such an adorable couple," the two shared a laugh over the thought of Sonic every being tied down by a relationship. Shortly after, a call came out from the house. It was Vanilla calling out to her daughter to come help with the moving. "I'll be there shortly, mother!" Cream called out. "Well, I suppose we'll have to catch up later Mister...er, I mean, Tails. It was delightful to see you again," Cream said. She skipped a few paces over to Tails and gave him a great big hug, something that caught the young fox off guard. He didn't have to hug the girl back before she skipped off back into the house. The feeling that Tails felt was something that he had never experience and it left his cheeks a shade of red that would rival a ripened apple. A shade so deep that it could be seen through his white fur on his cheeks. "Why Miles Prower, you're blushing aren't you?!" a voice came out from behind him. The voice was very sweet and unassuming, caring yet not overpowering. Turning around swiftly, the fox saw another familiar face. "Oh! Hi Mixxy. Did...did you see all that?" Tails asked sheepishly. Standing with a smile on her face not far from Tails was a young girl about the same age as the young fox. The girl stood with a pink skirt and lime green blouse on, smiling with her hair tied back with a flower scrunchy. Her long, fluffy fox tail wagged evenly and her canine eyes stared sweetly into her friend's eyes. "Yes. Is that the famous Cream the Rabbit I've heard so much about? She's rather cute," Mixxy said, giggling to herself. Tails blushed more, the shade of red showing brilliantly through. Mixxy and Tails had met shortly after Tails moved to Nivra. The two took to each other rather quickly and became friends almost instantly. Tails had always thought of her as a sort of sister, but Mixxy had always had a hidden crush on the fox-boy. One that no one but herself knew about. "Ye- yeah that's Cream," Tails responded nervously. Giggling in a very accusing way, Mixxy looked at Tails assumingly. "Well I hope she didn't make you late," Mixxy said. Realizing the time, Tails gasped and looked off toward the edge of town. "OH MY GOSH! I'M GONNA BE LATE TO MEET UP WITH RATCHET! Thanks, Mixxy, I'll talk with you later!" Tails said franticly, running off toward the workshop. Mixxy smiled and waved at her friend sweetly. Sighing, she just put her hands behind her back and smiled. "That poor boy. He doesn't even know that he's taken by Cream." --- "Don't worry about it, Tails. I've told you a million times, I don't care if you're late. It's not like we're working for money or anything," Ratchet said. Tails came rushing in moments earlier, apologizing to Ratchet as he did. Tails just blushed a little and laughed. "Well still, I always feel bad when I'm late," Tails said. "How ever rare that occasion is. You've been late enough times to count on a single paw. Don't worry about it. Anyway, its not like you're my only company anymore," the girl giggled. She looked out the window to the flat ground just outside the workshop where Kyle was practicing his daily routines and warm ups. Usually Mimi was there to practice with him but she was strangely absent today. Ratchet and Tails got right into what they had left off on yesterday. A project they had been working on for quite some time. They were working on a new way to keep Nivra powered. A cheap, easy to maintain, and effective way to keep the city un-reliant of any of the surrounding nations. As the hours ticked by, Ratchet began to notice a difference in her young fox friend. Something that seemed to linger over him like a small cloud. It didn't become obvious to her until Kyle walked in. Smiling at Ratchet and nodding at Tails, Kyle whipped the sweat off his head with a towel and threw his hat over toward the washing machine to be cleaned before he changed into his daily wear. "Hey, Tails seems a little preoccupied today," Kyle said, hugging Ratchet and looking into her eyes lovingly. Ratchet nodded in agreement. "He looks a little like someone I know when he's in thought," Ratchet giggled to herself, her tail wagging as she looked up into Kyle's big emerald orbs. Kyle just tilted his head in thought and smiled. "Yeah...almost like he's got someone on his mind," He said, looking at Ratchet and smiling playfully. Ratchet, reacting almost as if struck by an idea, looked up at Kyle with a bit of shock. "Oh my gosh, do you think he found someone special?!" the blue cat asked rhetorically. Kyle just smiled, glanced over at the fox as he worked and smiled back at the girl in his arms. "Actually, I think he did. I'm gonna have to hit the town and hear the scuttlebutt. Maybe I'll figure something out. A little detective work never hurt. Anyway, it will give me a reason to head to town and do a little shopping while I'm there," Kyle stated, hugging Ratchet and kissing her on the cheek sweetly. Ratchet giggled when she received the kiss and looked up. "Okay, but keep it quiet, okay. I don't want him to figure out that we're spying on him. The boy deserves his privacy, after all," Ratchet said. With that, Kyle smiled and ran upstairs to shower and dress for town. After grabbing his newly washed hat, he headed out toward town, a mission on his mind. --- Walking into town with his usual swagger, Kyle looked around and smiled to himself. The smell of the ocean was washing in delicately and it engulfed the purple hedgehog almost instantly. The smell was enough to calm him instantly and he continued walking after taking a small breath of the fresh breeze. Not making it too far into town before being stopped, Kyle heard a voice call out his name. Turning to see Max, Kyle grinned slyly and looked at his silver compatriot. Max walked up and put one hand on his hip smugly. "You seem a little more flamboyant today, Maxy-boy. Any reason?" Kyle laughed. Max just nodded and thumbed his nose. "As a matter of fact, I've just learned that an old friend of my family has moved into town," Kyle cocked his head in curiosity upon hearing Max's claim. "Oh? And who would that be?" "A woman by the name of Vanilla the Rabbit. She's a long time friend of my father's. I haven't seen her in awhile and last I heard she had a child," Max said. "Apparently, little Cream, as she's called, has been on a few adventures with Sonic and the gang." "Really now? And how old is she?" Kyle questioned. "Actually, I hear she's not much younger then Tails. Weird, huh?" Max laughed as he said this. Kyle cocked his head in thought. "Well, if she's a friend of yours then I guess I'll join you in welcoming her to Nivra. Come on, needle-noggin, we'll give her an old town greeting," Kyle walked off in the direction Max was headed. Max just laughed more. "Well with your greetings let's just hope she decides to stay." --- Amy was walking toward the home that now belonged to Vanilla and Cream the Rabbit. She was carrying a great big bundle of Nivra Lilies and had a smile that spanned her whole face. As she walked on, she heard a call come out. Looking over, she was delighted to see Mixxy the Fox. "Oh, hello there Mixxy. How is your day going?" Amy asked sweetly. Mixxy just giggled to herself and smiled. "It's gone pretty well, actually. So I take it you're taking those to Miles' girl friend's place?" Mixxy said with a hint of sarcasm in her voice. Amy looked at Mixxy curiously. "Tails' has a girl friend?" Amy didn't quite get what Mixxy was saying. "Yes. The little bunny with the big floppy ears that makes Miles turn all red," Mixxy smiled. Amy looked a little surprised to hear this but smiled shortly after. "Oh my! You mean Tails has seen Cream already?" "Yes. She kissed him and the poor boy turned redder then your dress," Mixxy laughed. Amy snickered and got a sly look on her face. "Definitely a topic I'll have to bring up with Cream. That girl always had chemistry with Tails. Though I think they were too young to realize it back then," Amy thought out loud. Mixxy just did a curtsy and spun around. "Well you say 'hi' to her for all of us, huh?!" Mixxy said as she waved to Amy who had begun her path toward Cream's again. Smiling, Amy nodded. --- Amy ran up to the door of her long time friend. The two haven't seen each other in years and both have changed quite a bit. Knocking in her old usual fashion, Cream answered it almost instantly. Flinging the door open almost frantically, she leapt out and hugged Amy in a warm embrace. "MISS AMY!!!" Cream yelled in delight. Laughing, Amy hugged the rabbit back and smiled. "Hey Cream. How have you been girly?" the pink hedgehog inquired. Cream just giggled and shrugged. "The usual I guess. Nothing like the old days, anyway," the two chuckled over the thought of fighting Dr. Eggman alongside Sonic and company. "But please, come in! Mother will be delighted to see you again!" The two girls stepped inside and laughed about times of old. Greeting Vanilla like a long lost mother, Amy and Cream caught up. The two were once the best of friends. It was a relationship very similar to the one Sonic and Tails shared. But Amy hand plans of her own. Though she never truly gave up on Sonic, she did move on away from chasing him doggedly. Finding a place all her own in Nivra, she was satisfied with the life she had found here. "So have you caught up with Mr. Sonic yet?" the question snapped Amy out of her day-dream and she thought about it while sipping at her tea. "Well...not exactly. Honestly, I'm a little apprehensive about talking to him these days. He's matured so well and...I suppose he's much more the hero then I remembered from our adventures," Amy explained. Cream just giggled. "What about you, Cream? Have you had a chance to see Tails yet?" Cream was set back by her friend's question. It was a well-guarded secret that Cream had feelings for Tails. She knew that Amy suspected such, but was never certain if she had actually figured it out. Cream, trying her hardest to hide her blushing cheeks, laughed a little and nodded. "He was on his way somewhere, I think. He had a pair of goggles on his head. It reminded me of the days I would visit him at his workshop out by the ruins," Cream said. She sighed at the thought. When she looked at the smile on Amy's face, she knew that her touch of hiding her long-time crush wasn't what it used to be. "I knew you had something for that boy," Amy smiled. Cream just sipped at her tea and smiled, no longer hiding her blush. "How could I not? He's sweet, funny, kind...everything I want in a man," Amy wasn't used to hearing such things from the once young girl. But she laughed a little under her breath. She saw herself in Cream. The same love that she had for Sonic was now in Cream for Tails. "Well go get him then, girly. He's still single," Amy encouraged. Cream just looked away nervously. "Oh dear, I couldn't do that. I wouldn't know how," Cream said. Amy just giggled. "And what about that other fox girl he was talking to?" "Oh, Mixxy? Relax, Cream, Tails thinks of her as more of a sister then anything. They met when he first moved here and Mixxy was the one that welcomed him." "Well she seemed to give him a very glancing look. She has feelings for him," Cream said. Amy cocked her head. "Why do you think that?" "Because she gave him the same looks I once did," Cream said, sipping at her tea. She was very good at hiding a crush and that made it easy for her to see the signs of such things. Amy shrugged. "That doesn't change the fact that Tails doesn't have any feelings for her. Anyway, I hear from Mixxy herself that Tails might have a heart for someone else," Amy winked her eye at Cream and smiled. Cream knew what this meant. "You mean...?" "Yup. Now come one, let's go find that little fox. You got a date with destiny, girl friend!" and with that, Amy grasped Cream by the hand and swept her off her feet to take her to see Tails. Setting their empty cups down as they left, Cream giggled with delight at the thought of seeing Tails once more.
