Chaos hums a bit to himself as he flips through the copious amounts of books on the shelf in front of him. His local library was having a small sale of old, and unused books to clear out some stock and raise a bit of cash. He always did enjoy just going there to read so hearing he could pick some books up from there for cheap. Well he wasn’t exactly going to just turn it down. So making his way through the books he flips through the shelves looking at all the options, and not really looking where he was going. He was just staring at everything around him. Rubbing the back of his head before exhaling quietly. It did kinda suck that a lot of stuff would get bought or thrown out if it wasn’t wanted enough, sadly while he wanted to get a lot of the books for sale he knew he could probably only buy one or two depending on how much the book cost. While wandering deeper into the library he starts to walk into a strange new area. Surprisingly it was a place he hadn’t ever entered before. Coming to his senses he jumps slightly and takes a look around. “U-uh hello?” He questions, rubbing the back of his head. The room he had ended up in was large and wooden. Looking around he noticed it was made to look like the inside of a giant tree. Like the library was built around a tree, then the tree was hollowed out and built inside. It felt oddly familiar, and he couldn’t help but wonder why that was. But he doesn’t let it bother him all too much. After all, as his eyes land on the vast collection of books lining the walls, he can’t help but beam happily. Walking closer to the main shelf he hums slightly flipping and flipping through the books. “Looking for anything in particular?” A voice asks from behind him. Chaos doesn’t turn, focused heavily on the books in front of him, but he does nod to the voice. “Nothing super specific to be honest.. Just looking around, it’s weird though. I don’t think I’ve seen this area of the library before. Is it a new addition?” He questions, pulling out one of the books. Noticing that oddly enough they all appeared to be blank at least the covers. All leatherbound with no titles, or authors on them. Flipping one of the books open leads right into a table of contents. Shaking his head he closes it glad to see there was at least something in these books. “Oh no, in fact this is probably the oldest part of the library. Honestly I’m not too surprised to see that you’ve never been here. Not many people come since it’s so deep in the library.” The voice explains. “Though you know I usually get a good read of the kind of things people like to read. Mind if I give you a small nudge?” The person asks, before he can even answer a book seems to float out of the shelf and into his hands surrounded by a shimmering purple aura. Looking down at the book he jumps a bit in surprise. Looking down to it with a small smile. He was a bit caught off guard by how the book seemed to appear in his hands but he holds it under his arm. “Uhh thanks ma’am. What exactly is this book though?” He asks, going to turn around to face the woman who was standing behind him. But as he turns to look, there’s nothing there. No one is standing there. He keeps the book held in his hands. Eyes darting around as he tries to find where the person could have gone. But not seeing anything he eventually sighs, giving up on it as he slips the book into his bag. Leaving the strange tree area of the library he starts to take a look around. Picking up a few more books before making his way towards the front of the library. Taking out the books he had picked up, along with the book he was handed by the strange woman. “Just these.” He says, the woman behind the counter nodding slightly as she starts to scan through the books. “So uh I was wondering, what’s up with the like.. Tree house area in the back. I’ve been coming here for years and I didn’t see anything like that before?” He questions, the woman doesn’t say anything at first but simply cocks her head up and raises a brow. “Well I’d imagine not.” She says in an uninterested voice. “After all, we don't exactly have anything like that here. Also I think you put one of your own books in the pile sir. This one doesn’t have a tag.” She says pushing the unmarked purple book forwards. Looking down at it he frowns a bit not quite understanding what she meant. Of course that had that section there, she had to be wrong, and he almost says something but as he thinks on it he can’t help but think on it. After all, if it didn’t have a tag that meant he could easily get it for free. With a slight smile he nods. “Ah yeah that’s probably my fault, sorry about that.” He replies laughing slightly before reaching out, grabbing the book and quickly slipping the book into his bag once more. Offering a small smile he nods to the woman. After paying for the rest of the books he grabs them, and slips them into his bag as well. “Thanks, pleasure doing business with you guys. Always glad to help out.” He says the woman offers a small nod, not bothering to reply as she gets back to cataloging some of the other books in her collection. While Chaos makes his way out he feels a shutter move down his back, making him shiver, looking over his shoulder and back into the library. But it was in his head. Nothing to worry about. Shaking his head he makes his way back home, keeping his hands slipped into his pockets, every once in a while looking down towards his bag with a small tilt of his head. He didn’t fully understand this feeling but it had begun to change. From feeling unsure to what almost felt like excitement. Of course he was normally excited to read a new book but this was different. His heart was racing already. He hands twitching a bit in his pocket as he speeds up his run. Kicking it up slightly as he pushes forwards jogging down the street. It was almost like he could feel a fire swelling in his stomach. Growing to a burning point as he licks his lips. For just a few seconds he can feel a slight stinging burn dance on the tip of his tongue and further past his lips. From that it doesn’t take too much longer for him to reach his home, and with a swift step he makes his way inside, grabbing his keys out of his pocket he slips it into the lock and quickly turns it. Throwing open the door to step inside he tosses his bag onto the couch and plops himself down next to it. A low chuckle escapes his mouth while he pulls out that large purple book. Looking down to it with a grin he pops it open to the first page. But that smile on his face quickly starts to turn down as he stares at the first page of the book. It wasn’t written in english. In fact it wasn’t written in any language he’s ever seen before. If anything it looked like a collection of various symbols. If there was one thing he did notice is that all of the symbols were horse-like in nature from horse shoes to even horse heads. It was interesting to say the least. “What in the?” He mutters quietly to himself, tilting his head to the side as he does a quick flip through the book, seeing all of the pages were made up of these symbols. Each page was indecipherable. At least at the current moment. His excitement died almost right away. A sigh escaping his mouth as he closes the book tight. “Dammit.. Okay, going to have to do a bit of research on what this language could be.. Assuming there’s anything I can use that’d actually help.. Looks more like someone just drew a bunch of random crap in this.” He shakes his head, he could still feel that fire of excitement burning in his gut. But it was starting to fade ever so slightly. Almost as if it was starting to spread through his lower body, spreading outwards from his stomach and pouring across every inch of his body. It was nearly unbearable at least for the first few seconds, gritting his teeth as a few unnoticeable wisps of green fire escape his maw. But he stands up, putting the books back down, getting his things together before going to make his way upstairs. While ascending the stairs he finds himself looking around. Once again there was a strange feeling in the back of his head. Though this time he couldn’t help but feel like there was something wrong with his house. Instead of himself this time. In fact his house felt much larger than normal, and it almost felt like it was growing around him as he took each little step. While he couldn’t see it with each step he took he lost a good inch or two in height. Shrinking down ever so slightly as he walks up the stairs. “M-mrrff.” He grunts, stumbling over the last step. Taking a few steps forwards as he almost falls face first into the ground. Shaking his head he adjusts and dusts himself off keeping himself standing strong with a small smile. “W-whoops, should probably watch where I’m going a bit more.” He murmurs quietly to himself as he heads into his room. Hopping up into his chair he sits down, His legs barely touching the ground at this point he had probably lost about a foot in height. Growing quite a bit smaller but he didn’t seem to notice as he starts to look for some answers. Looking up first “horse language.” Which pretty much brings up nothing. His tail flicks around behind him, frowning in annoyance. With each little movement his tail makes it lose a few tufts of fur. Flinging it off of his body and onto the ground before it simply seems to burn up in a flurry of soundless green flames. Underneath the thick pelt of fur revealed something quite strange. A long scaly tail that appears to be pointed at the end. One like that of a lizard, or more specifically one of a dragon. While he continues to look things up he soon stumbles across something new, a search result that matched what he was looking for. It appeared that the language the book was written in was that of a show, specifically my little pony. That’s when it finally hits him. That’s where he remembered it from. The library, and the books. They were modeled after Twilight’s library from the same show. But that only made things more confusing as it had apparently been there for longer than the show had been around. Or maybe that was a bit. Maybe it was a new wing of the library. As he thought about this he hops out of his chair and makes his way back down stairs, his tail shrinking down a bit. Growing just a tad shorter, flicking around behind him, and swaying across the ground. He might have noticed it early but his mind was much more focused on one thing. Figuring out the secrets of this book. Something he had to know about, these piling up mysteries only making him more excited to understand what he had gotten. Sliding downstairs he lands with a slight grunt, the ground feeling much lower to the ground than normal. Looking down with a slight hint of shock he stares at his paws for a moment, and then turns around to face the stairs with a slight tilt of his head. Something about that felt wrong. But he just couldn’t put his finger on it. But he didn’t have time to think or worry about that. He had to get back to work and he had to find the secret behind the book. Nothing else mattered at this point. Even as his clothing got more and more baggy. To the point of nearly tripping over them. The husky was continuing to lose his form. But he didn’t seem to notice or at least didn’t seem to care. All that was on his mind was getting the book’s translation done; he could only grin as he hops up onto the couch once more, leaning back and crossing his legs as he smiles down at the book in front of him. “Okay I have a good general base.. No better place to start~” He muses aloud to himself a slight chuckle escaping his mouth. He knew he had to work hard and fast if he wanted to get through the book in one day. So throwing it open to the first page he sets the translation paper he had printed out down next to the side and quickly starts to look between the book and the paper. Slowly starting to work through the translations as he hums softly to himself. Slowly as he went through it bit by bit he began to realize something. It wasn’t one large continuous story. In fact it seemed to be a collection of various other stories. Each one follows a different story. It appeared that each of the stories seemed to follow someone getting turned into a different my little pony characters. He hums a bit curiously, tilting his head to the side with a small chuckle. “Huh, interesting.. This isn’t something I expected to pick up. Let alone in a public library.” He muses aloud, holding a hand to his face, His nails sharpening even further seeming to merge slightly downwards turning into small purple claws. Reaching a hand up he scratches softly at his neck. Feeling rather itchy but he wasn’t sure why. Still oblivious to what was happening. Getting closer to transforming into something else. Humming a bit to himself as he soon reaches the last story. Then a grin flickers across his face. “Heheh almost done, alright~” He says to himself grinning even wider as he goes to look towards the translation paper again. But he pauses, hearing his stomach rumble loudly all of a sudden. A deep hunger fills his mind and body as he groans softly. He wasn’t sure what it was but he was suddenly so hungry. But he was kinda craving something nice and hard. Sorta like rock candy. Getting up and off the couch he wobbles a bit on his legs which seemed to shrink a bit, shortening his body even further as he wobbles over towards the kitchen, Peering inside of the fridge he hums a bit to himself, scratching the back of his head as he looks at everything inside, and in specific just how unappealing it looked, everything inside of the fridge just looked so bad. It just didn’t look good to him, groaning in announcement he slams it shut and digs through the pantry and then through some of the cupboards. But just nothing looked good inside of the house. Mumbling a bit to himself he passes by his kitchen window. Something glinting in the backyard catches his attention as he turns his gaze over to a rock pile that he had gathered in the backyard. There was something inside of it, narrowing his gaze slightly he tries to get a good look at it. “Hmm? What is that?” He questions, licking his lips. Something about that glint, that shine.. Just looked so tasty. He had to see what it was, so poking his head outside he took a look around. Not seeing anyone he waddles on over to the rock pile and starts to dig through it, tossing rocks aside as he digs his way to the glint in the rocks. Mouth watering while chuckling eventually reaching a small green gem, sticking out of the side of the pile. A wide grin spread across his lips. A pleased chuckle leaving his mouth as he rubs his hands together. Now this was a good looking meal. Before he could even realize what he was doing he lifts the rock up and stuffs it right into his mouth. Within seconds his teeth were changing, growing harder and sharper. Enough to tear through pure stone as he bites down, splitting it right in half. “M-mrrff!~” He groans. The taste was absolutely amazing, eyes swirling a bit while licking his lips. He never knew a gemstone like this could taste so delicious, especially one as pure as this. Leaning down he digs through more of the pile humming softly to himself as he plucks up more and more of the gems that he finds. While he could taste the dust on the last one he chuckles happily. Carrying them in both hands he slowly makes his way back towards the house. Making sure not to drop anything as he chuckles happily to himself, more than pleased with what he was able to get his hands on. Sorta bouncing back and forth happily while he hurries back inside. Slamming the door behind him he dumps the gems into the sink, turning on the water to wash them down while he dove into the fridge once more. Smiling a bit as he pulls out a rather large cake. While it looked unappetizing before there was something about it now that just pulled him in. Setting the cake down on the ground he lets out a pleased hum, a wide grin spread across his shortening muzzle, rubbing his hands together before going to grab the gems out of the sink, slowly organizing them across the cake, placing it just perfectly so it covered each and every inch of the top. “Hehe~ There we go~” His voice grew even higher and younger. Picking up the cake, now having to stand on his toes in order to even each it. He grabs ahold of it and starts to make his way back towards the living room. Plopping the plate down on the table next to him. Looking down to the book he tilts his head slightly. “Hm? What in the?” He questions staring at the book now quickly realizing that he could understand the book in front of him. He could read it easily. The words on the page were no longer written in that pony language but in perfect english. Or at least he could read it as such. As he stared at the book he could only marvel at what it read. “A good Read” was written across the page, eyes widening a bit as he continued on. It was a story following a husky, one who found himself at a library sale for the day. Wandering into a restricted area of the library and finding a strange book there. It was slightly different from what had happened but everything about it. There was no doubt this story was about him. As he continued to read through it he finally became more aware of just what was happening to him. His changing body and even his mind. Without even thinking though he grabs a handful of the gem cake with one hand and stuffs his face as he turns to the next page. Upon flipping the page over he saw that it was empty, or rather that’s what he thought at first, though reading through the page he soon saw the very words writing themselves out, describing him reading the story. Slowly more and more of his fur begins to fall out, dropping in clumps now as it reveals a scaly back, now standing no taller than 4 feet tall. “W-what is this? What’s happening to me?” He read outloud and asked himself at the same time. It was hard to properly understand or even process all of this while it was both happening to him and appearing on the page in front of him. As his face finishes shaping into that of a dragon his mane of head fur slowly pulls up, hardening into a row of dark green spines that run from the top of his head and downwards, ears moving down towards the sides of his head as they turn into slightly softer, thinner fins. His mind was starting to cloud as well, increasingly getting harder to think clearly. His name was the first thing to start to fade from his mind. Trying to remember who he is, was quickly getting harder. Rubbing the back of his head with his still mostly canine hand he starts to turn the page with the other, the other hand quickly transforming taking on a more draconic look, arm shortening as the purple scales spread up his arms, turning his fur to air moving up towards his shoulder. When it reaches his chest however it shifts once more, the fur vanishing but instead his skin turning to a soft, slightly slimy underbelly, Very similar to that of a dragon. As it spreads down his stomach and chest he could see his body also becoming more cartoony, bright and somewhat glowy as his new dragon tail twitches and sways behind him. Shakily a smile begins to spread across the dragon’s mouth as his eyes flicker, starting to change color. Taking on a brighter green, eyes slitting as they too become like that of a dragon. The transformation seems to quick its pace as he once again flips the page. But this time he could see something else. The page was no longer describing his story, his transformation, or at least he thought it was about him. He couldn’t remember who this “Chaos” was anymore, a slight frown flickering across his face, but it was only for a moment as the changes spread down towards his left leg. The already stout limb, shrinking just a bit further as his paws shrink as well. Turning into smaller dragon claws. Curling slightly and digging into the ground below as he smiles once more. A slightly pleased chuckle leaving his mouth. “Those whose eyes adorn this text..” He starts to read out loud to himself as the changes spread even further across his body. Covering his entire lower half by now. Spreading towards his other arm and leg. “Forever and ever you will be hexed.” His mind was growing foggier as more and more of him disappeared, now fully transformed into that body of a small, short dragon. “Your identity shall be no more..” He continues not even thinking about what was being said, what the words meant anymore as that shroud of confusion spreads over his fading mind. Quickly being replaced. Renewed with something else. In a matter of moments he could realize that Chaos the Husky would be no more. But what else there could be, he didn’t know quite yet. “Now you; a dragon forevermore.” He could feel his mind standing to clear now. Everything but his name. “Gone from you is your psyche.” The words near the end of the page as the dragon leans in slightly, reading deeper into it as he smiles even wider. “Now be free, Spike-y” That’s when the realization hits him, his name was Spike of course! Spike chuckles a bit to himself for being so silly. Hopping off of the couch he grabs another handful of cake, stuffing it into his mouth with a murr of hunger. Putting the book back on Twilight’s library shelf. After all, he knew other ponies would want to read it. It seemed quite popular after all. But it certainly was a good read~
