Notes about Alex: General Background: -Alex's backstory is minimal because I cannot think of anything I'd be satisfied with. -Alex started out in a research faciliy, which he escaped in his (what appears to be) early to mid-teens, with no memory as to who he was. "Alex" is what he named himself and whenever he needs a last name he just uses "X" due to being simple, is a letter that means something unknown, and makes him seem more mysterious. -Nobody from the facility has gone after Alex. Alex speculates that this is either because it was abandoned and he was left behind, or he wasn't important enough to care about. This has resulted in some subconcious self-esteem issues at a very early age, and has lasting effects as he gets older due to hating the idea of failing those he cares about. -Alex generally does not care about his past (assuming he wasn't created at the facility) since he is the type to prefer looking towards the future than worrying about the past. -Because Alex primarily worries about the future, he will often dwell on problems to try and find a solution with the best long-term effects. This can cause him to be indecisive at critical moments. -Alex can be hard on himself when his action or inaction causes problems for others, despite having an easy time forgiving the things others do. -Alex is about even between being a leader and a follower. He doesn't mind following orders if he trusts the person leading, but at the same time if nobody is taking charge he won't hesitate to do his best to get everyone organized. -Because Alex can keep friends with him at all times, he can easily get their support when he feels down. While things can make him depressed, it's hard to get him to outright stop him in his tracks. -In general, Alex is very empathetic to others and knows that people generally have reasons for their actions. As such he generally likes people and never holds grudges, even if he legitimately dislikes the person in question. -Alex is capable of using his empathy to try and push others into doing things for him. It doesn't always work, but that is usually more to him reading the person wrong or using the incorrect approach than his ability failing. -Likewise, his innate empathy makes Alex good for attempting to talk someone down from a fight or help those upset. However, he is not above bluffing if he thinks it would give him an edge in negotiation, which can potentially makes things worse if called out on it. -Because Alex relies on others so much for his spiritual powers, his younger years had him feel a lot more powerless compared to those he gains power from. As he gets older he becomes more confident in his innate water powers, even if he still uses his spiritual powers plenty. Hydrokinesis: -Alex can manipulate any water around him, including water molecules in the air. -How quickly he can pull together abilities depends on how much water is in the area. -He can create ice, but after he does the molecules are too compacted to work with, forcing him to either melt the ice or slowly wear down the ice. -Alex cannot and does not use his water for healing. He can use it to clean things by making running water, but it has no direct heal/renewal capabilities. -For practical purposes, Alex can create clean drinking water and even create rain if there is a body of water nearby. However he cannot make anything more than just heavy rain or hail without the assistance of additional elements like wind. -He generally works with pure water, so his water skills cannot conduct electricity. Likewise he can make an aquatic barrier against electric attacks, though how well it would hold against anything else is debatable and in general would be better off countering with high-pressure water bursts. -In combat, he generally uses immense water pressure to pierce defenses and literally crush foes. -If desperate, he can use the water from his own body. A potential limit break-type skill would be to use the water from his opponent's body. -A possible limit break-type skill that was considered at one time was to have him create massive pillars of water to attack his foes over a great area. Spiritual Manipulation: -Alex is fully capable of forcing souls to join his repitoire. However, he does not do that because of personal standards, and as a result only takes souls that are offered to him (and even then he only takes part of it as to avoid damaging the other person). -Alex is capable of using souls themselves as attacks, however he much prefers to sync them with his own to combine his hydrokinesis to whatever they have for new combinations. He calls this a "Soul Sync". -He would generally prefer to capitalize on an individual soul's strengths rather than take many and just make them a small part of a bigger attack. He would use the "quality over quantity" arguement, especially since he never gets any of his souls through "petty theft". -While Alex is not depicted using his spirit powers very often, he DOES practice them frequently and as such he is highly skilled with them. -If a person is directly stated to not have a soul, Alex cannot manipulate it. If nothing is said one way or the other on the subject, Alex is the kind who sees no reason why even things like a sentient machine or clones can't have their own soul. -While Alex does have a main/personal/base soul, the other souls he gets become part of it, and will prioritize protecting Alex at all costs (even without Alex ordering them to). -Because Alex's soul is a combination of his and others', he is completely immune to effects like mind control and brainwashing. He can still be convinced or manipulated, however. -Alex can manipulate his base soul at will just like the souls of others. -It is not known if Alex's base soul is actually his, or he has no innate soul and his base is simply a combination of the souls he had before losing his memory, or perhaps the soul of someone who was particularly close to him at some point in the past. -If his base soul is simply a combination of previous souls, Alex would not break down over this fact. He would certainly feel for the ones involved, but he would simply conclude that they are Alex now. Equipment: -Saturn Rings: Alex's pair of golden chakram rings. Like the planet they are named after, they represent the powers of life and death, and are capable of harming demons and creatures normally immune to conventional weapons. They are magic and always return to the wielder like boomerangs. Alex holds them in a special way to avoid getting cut, and has enough practice he is unlikely to get hurt using them. -When not using his chakrams, Alex mostly uses smaller/lightweight weapons like knives and short swords (latter of which he holds in reverse grip). In settings that allow it he can also use handguns or anything not particularly big or heavy. Fighting Style: -Alex's fighting style in both weapons and magic is highly unrefined due to having no formal training of any kind, and (depending on his history) is either still learning all of his skills from scratch or relearning his lost abilities. -While not the strongest around, Alex is generally a tactical fighter who will use the sync or base power he feels best gives him an advantage, adapting his fighting style as he goes. -After using a sync, Alex will usually not change to another unless his current one is flat-out not working. -Alex does not need much to keep a sync active. It is not a fusion or transformation however, despite his body colors changing to match the other person, so if unconcious he will not be able to sustain a sync, but can still sustain a sync even if heavily injured. -Alex does not hesitate to fight pragmatically, such as going after weak points and using things he finds that might give him an edge.
