NOTE: the following was written before news came out that Minerva Mink was confirmed to not be in the 2020 Animaniacs reboot so please don't take the end part mentioning the reboot seriously [it was near the end of August and almost the start of September Dustin & Blake entered the room in their swimsuits and surfboard after a fun Summer Break] Dustin: whew! what a busy Summer break huh Blake? Blake: You said it; we got to play a lot :) Dustin: oh yes now the only thing we have to do now is do the second half of Woodfox Talks and Rants Season 4 but i don't have that much ideas do you? [Blake shrugs] Dustin: hmm maybe i should look through my DVD's [walks up to the DVD shelf] Blake: Let's see; Gummi Bears, Ducktales 1987, Tiny Toon Adventures, Animaniacs, Darkwing Duck- Dustin: [runs up] Animaniacs?! :o Blake: Yeah; I found it here on this section of Part of a TV Channel Block series Dustin: yeah i remember passing by it as a kid but never really watched it fully until i was older... [gets an idea bulb] i got it! let's do a new side series of Woodfox Talks and Rants and i know just how to start it! [shows a poster of Minerva Mink] Dustin: hey everyone we're back from our Summer Break of Woodfox Talks and Rants we've had a fun Summer didn't we Blake? Blake: We certainly did, we played a lot of games and had some fun even though we didn't do any beach stuff but it was still fun this Summer. Dustin: indeed such a lot of fun things but now it's the fall and we can start setting up for the big three holidays of the year until the next year which i hope will be a better year than 2020 but first it's time for a new episode and it will be the start of my new side series this is Woodfox Talks and Rants Character Studies this is where me and my friends take a look at certain characters from shows that we remember in the most interesting way possible even though they didn't make that huge an impact for this i can't think of anyone better to start out but first a little introduction... Animaniacs [the Animaniacs theme song played] Dustin: who doesn't remember this amazing groundbreaking show? being the second Steven Spielberg Animated series after Tiny Toon Adventures Animaniacs has become a household name and is remembered by hundreds of people even after it officially ended in 1999 after the release of their direct to video classic Wakko's Wish which also came out at the very end of the 90's Blake: Indeed; this series has such remarkable characters, all of which stand out for different reasons. But today, we'll be talking about a character who practically became an icon, especially to people on this website... Minerva Mink Dustin: oh yes the beautiful and sexy Minerva Mink the only featured character who is also prominent in the intro to only have two central cartoons all about her! yeah... this is gonna be interesting to talk about so let's start at the beginning Dustin: Minerva Mink made her debut appearance in the cartoon Hercule Yakko where the Warners are detectives on a ship trying to find Marita Hip Hippo's lost diamond necklace among the suspects are Slappy Squirrel, Pinky and the Brain and of course Minerva Mink and Yakko and Wakko's usual perverted reactions sum up every older fan of the show X3 Yakko and Wakko: HELLOOOOOO NURSE! Blake: For those that don't know, Minerva is voiced by Julie Brown; she's the singer of the song, Cuz I'm a Blond. And as you can see, Minerva, originally named Marilyn Mink, is a blond as well. While she can be a bit ditzy at times, she's quite a crafty temptress Dustin: indeed another interesting piece of trivia is that Julie Brown was also on Tiny Toon Adventures but as a character who happens to be a parody of herself Julie Bruin another character the Furry community likes to play with i honestly like Minerva more but let's get back into this now obviously with a sexy character you'd expect her to have a bunch of cartoons similar to say Slappy Squirrel, Buttons and Mindy and of course Pinky and the Brain whom the latter got a few spinoffs even that weird one with Elmyra from Tiny Toons however Minerva only got two shorts Meet Minerva and Moon Over Minerva and they weren't in chronological order either the second was seen earlier in the first season and the first was seen much later well let's take a look at those two cartoons shall we? i think to chronological sense we'll start with Meet Minerva as this is the cartoon that's supposed to introduce us to the hot mink anyway [with the exception of Hercule Yakko] Blake: It starts with an example of who Minerva is and what her life is about; she lives in a forest and even there, she's seen as an alluring sex symbol Dustin: indeed and every male animal in the forest goes nuts over her even when she's just walking around in a towel going to the pond for a bath yes that's what she does for the first couple minutes X///3 soon we're introduced to another character possibly put in to give us some classic Looney Tunes humor Newt even though in an earlier cartoon he was seen as a Nazi guarddog in the Rita & Runt cartoon Puttin' on the Blitz this is technically his first appearance like i said chronological order problems he's sent by his owner to get a mink let's just say this is easier said than done as Minerva Mink is pretty much like a descendant of Bugs Bunny or a more sexually crafty Slappy Blake: Though Newt goes through multiple attempts to catch her, she uses her feminine wiles to put Newt into a droopy state. Despite his best efforts, he can't help but be enamoured by a creature as glamorous as Minerva. But, when a handsome male mink comes into the picture, it shows that even she's turned on by an attractive figure ;-) Dustin: yup and that's pretty much the central focus of Minerva's second and final cartoon in the whole show Moon Over Minerva in this one Minerva is feeling lonesome as even though she's a heartthrob to every male animal in the forest she wants a special someone who can be with her that's when we're introduced to a nerdy Goofy-esque wolf by the name of Wilford B. Wolf Blake: to put this delicately, Wilford is a caricature of the kind of men that ogle over Minerva. After some failed attempts to get her attention, Wilford sadly howls at the full moon. But with the full moon, Wilford undergoes a strange transformation. Wilford is in actuality a werewolf, and when he transforms, he... (shows a picture of Wilford's transformed form) He... uh, he... o/////o Dustin: ...he pretty much becomes a manly wolf pretty much in the same types of sexual veins as Minerva Mink in a way because similar to Minerva all the female animals go nuts over him as well and it caught the attention of our sexy mink too however one interesting bit about this cartoon is whenever the full moon is covered by clouds Wilford turns back into his normal nerdy self and every time the clouds go away he's in Full Moon form again with most of the same things happening Minerva getting interested in Wilford's Full Moon form while getting disgusted at Wilford's regular nerdy self mostly unaware of the whole thing until the end Blake: Mmm~ Huh? Oh, right! Ahem; well, at the end, when Minerva is packing a huge smooch on Wilford's Full Moon Form, the sun comes up, and Wilford transforms back to his normal self. Minerva then in confusion asks what kind of wolf Wilford is, to which he explains he's a werewolf. Intrigued, Minerva asks when the next full moon is, to which Wilford explains roughly every 28 days. Blissfully, Minerva says, "Good things are worth waiting for" implying she loves his full moon look Dustin: after both of Minerva's central cartoons aired she never made much of a full appearance afterwards she only made random cameo appearances in other cartoons but in some she does have somewhat of a role such as Macadamia Nut with Dot and Hello Nurse and This Pun for Hire where Minerva was an antagonist in this cartoon she was even in Star Warners as Flabby the Butt's slave girl her official final appearance of course like all the other Animaniacs characters was in Wakko's Wish and despite having a few minor lines and being one of the characters riding off to the Wishing Star she was able to get a rather grand credit alongside Mr. Director [who is a parody of Jerry Lewis] in the end credits of the movie Blake: it shows that Minerva is a fan favorite among the animators. Though, she did run into some controversy for her design Dustin: yup here's the part you were all waiting for one of the main reasons why Minerva never made a major appearance outside of her two only cartoons and being a major part of the intro alongside the other characters is the fact she was too sexy for a kids cartoon now you can argue that Animaniacs has had it's fair share of innuendo things all over the place especially with characters like Hello Nurse and bits of Yakko making this line Yakko: good night everybody! Dustin: but i think possibly with Minerva she was TOO sexy for the show hence why she was placed in the cameo sidelines in fact Moon Over Minerva was slightly edited mostly on her breasts which resulted in what the fanbase calls a "uni-boob" Surgeon from American Dad: no one ever wants the Superboob... Blake: With the upcoming Animaniacs reboot coming to Hulu, I feel that there should be all new potential for her; a chance to really explore her character, being more than a sex object Dustin: oh yes the reboot now as we're typing it's still yet to come out but it's said to come out in the Fall of this year with Animaniacs you can't just have the Warner Brothers and Sister and Pinky and the Brain you have to have ALL the Animaniacs characters including our favorite sexy Mink oh Hulu PLEASE make it happen i don't want Minerva to be in obscurity Blake: only time will tell, my friend. Only time will tell (dramatic gust of wind) Dustin: and with that we are done with our first Character Study we might do a couple more before the season ends later on but we'll see what happens i do have a few ideas in mind join us next time when we talk about a Vegetable girl turned queen for one episode see you next time guys ~skullz and Fuwa out
