Transport for humans based on dragon riding is present in Altinova, the Dragon-Human city, however it is far more expensive than taking a bus and can be easily considered the equivalent of a taxi. Humans who inhabit the city usually use the vast network of public transport that links all the zones, and those who are seen flying on the back of a dragon are most of the times tourists, with the occasional night customer on Fridays. When visiting Altinova, using the dragon transport service has become a must, just like is a must riding on a gondola in Venice. The company that runs the service, knowing its popularity among visitors, even arranges panoramic flights around the city and in the most expensive solutions even above the natural zones around it. Transporting goods is also another available service, although this is intended more for industries and not privates. For using the dragon transport service, you can either find a dragon carrying a special bag with a well-defined symbol visible from a distance or call a special number that connects you to the service contact center or book a dragon online. Once found a dragon, they quickly introduce themselves and friendly help the human customer to climb on, carefully indicating the saddle with the brackets all of them must wear when in service, provided for a safe experience. They are taught to chat during the flight in order to both provide a pleasant experience and avoid giving the human the impression of riding an animal, but using a service provided by a worker – just like a taxi. When finally landing, the dragon indicates the pouch that identifies them as an employer of the service where the customer can pay – either in cash or using cards. For taking track of the cost, each dragon has a wearable device on their forepaw. The service has been carefully planned during the years in which Altinova has been built, and therefore has been fully operational since the very first day of the city. It is therefore one of the oldest examples of dragon jobs present in the city. For a dragon to join the service, however, an extensive period of training is required. First of all, a preliminary interview is made with the dragon who has made request, followed by physical and psychological tests. If the dragon is found to be fit, the course includes memorizing the details about the city map, physical training for carrying weights for many hours, and attitudinal courses for relating with human clients. The whole course, in the end, provides the dragons who successfully complete the course with a license that identifies them as qualified, and immediately assumable in the company. The dragons who provide this service have helped the human newcomers in orienteering themselves and immediately taking a friendlier approach to a species that only few decades before was confined to legends - particularly during the first times, when the transport service was not as extended as nowadays. It has also helped many dragons in establishing themselves into the economic, and societal, structure of the world they have awakened in. The most common objections to the services have been concerns about the safety of the experience and accusations of using dragons as mere mounts despite the propaganda of the association behind the city. The service has been studied, however, first and foremost in terms of safety, with a wide range of tests and study analyses. Moreover, all the dragons who work in the service have willingly joined it, and the company behind it is for most of its part run by dragons belonging to the association, with humans mostly having roles as teachers in the training course. It could be debated if in the future, this service could serve as an example for activating similar ones in other cities in the world. This would require towns to have a sufficient degree of accessibility for dragons, which most cities still do not have. Many big cities, however, are already on the way to become more dragon-friendly with important planning projects, and this would potentially lead to the path to activating dragon transport services similar to Altinova.
