Ynk’s arrival Ynk was pretty nervous. After he left home, he had headed to a place in city called ‘the 5 points’ traffic circle. It was one of the biggest traffic circles in the city and probably the oldest. All 5 of the main roads focused here. Now he was waiting. He felt a little stupid, alone on the circle with his big trolley bag. He looked down once more at the letter he had received a few days ago. “To: Mr. Ynk Lamia From: Mr Doble Hinger You are invited to the Phenomenal Academy For Incredibly Gifted, where you will learn all you need to know to control your gift. Along with seven mandatory classes, it is possible to follow another three optional courses. If you are interested in studying in our school, sign on the line bellow; if not, please burn this letter. Signed, Doble Hinger, headmaster of P.A.F.I.G.” Of course, after reading the pamphlet that was inside the envelope, along with the letter, Ynk had signed. The ink he used to sign was absorbed by the paper, how strange. According to the pamphlet, the mandatory courses were: history, physical education, magic’s theory and practice, languages and strategy. And there were lot of optional lessons: theology, elemental magic, advanced languages, applied strategy, survival training, mathematics, magic weaponry, magic applied to everyday life, and lot more. It was at this moment that a muscular female zebra approached him. She presented herself as Zebh Uhra, Physical Education teacher at P.A.F.I.G. Given her incredibly toned boy, Ynk didn’t had any trouble believing her. Once he showed her his invitation and his identity card, upon her demand, she presented him with a strange looking card. It looked like a normal ID card but with incredible, cabalistic drawings and symbols. The card had a glowing white writing with the letters P.A.F.I.G., then under it, his name, birthday, specie, and an ID number; it only missed his picture. The back however was completely black. Actually, it was like a night without moon: if one looked closed, tiny little stars could be seen. Zebh Uhra instructed him to press his ID card against this new, magic one. He obeyed of course and 5 seconds later, his picture was copied on it! Magic was wonderful. Then, the Ed teacher showed him a symbol. She first drew it on the ground: it was actually two 5 pointed stars, with one upside down. She told him to draw than on the back of the card, the black one and then press his little finger in the small space at the center of the symbol. Ynk smiled when he saw that if he drew the symbol correctly, the points of the stars shined more strongly. When he pressed his little finger in the center, he was immediately warped away. He felt like if his body was being stretched and squeezed and span, but also like if he weighted nothing at all. The sensations were too strange to describe with common words –he’d have to look into a dictionary. After several seconds of this, the hybrid landed on the ground… and fell down. His head was spinning so much he wanted to throw up. Two seconds later, the zebra was beside him, his trolley bag in her strong hand; she was grinned at him, like she knew that it’d go like that. Then, Ynk looked up and his eyes widened: before him was a large building. It wasn’t among the tallest he saw, like those skyscrapers, but it was higher than his old school, he counted five stories, where his old school had only two. It was also pretty large and formed a square U letter. Zebh Uhra showed him in, and brought him to the principal’s office. Ynk was impressed by what he saw: a dragon! A big, fucking dragon! Dragons were quite rare in Kubaraad, mainly because they didn’t get along with the other species. But they were incredibly strong and the most powerful magic users. And this one actually controlled a school! And… he had an emerald flame between his two demon’s like horns… Mr Hinger was actually nicer than his aspect presented, guess the saying “don’t judge a book from its cover” is true after all. After some paperwork, courses choosing and a quick rules explanation (after which he got the rules book) the principal clapped his hands twice. A small orb of blue light appeared. The dragon gave instructions then saluted the young hybrid, who was lead out by the orb. The glowing, floating sphere guided Ynk to the dormitory, a smaller building beside the main one; how he didn’t notice it before, he’ll never know. The building had its own cafeteria, a library, a study room and a game room. Then, the sphere took him to his room: number 999. His bag was already here! His room was clean, had a window that let sunlight in, two desks, one on each side of the window, two beds, one each side of the door, and a large armoire between the bed and the desk, against the wall, one on each side again. The orb the vanished with a little blue smoke, leaving Ynk alone on his new home. Slowly, like if he was still absorbing all that happened, Ynk sat on bed on the right; His face was blank and looked like a storm was happening in in his brain. Then, a smile slowly started to deform his mouth. He lay down on the bed, his tail waving slowly, his hands behind his head. He felt at home.
