It was another warm spring day at the Lamplight laboratory complex. The scarce treeline around the edges of the compound emitting the chirping birdsong of a group of birds resting within their nest. The occasional sounds of crickets chirping from deep within the grass. And of course the more industrial sounds of cars passing by outside the compound.. that is. Until the rumbling began. The people within the lab had long since gotten used to the rumbling footsteps of giants, as one of their biggest divisions specialized in the research and development of such creatures... but this was a different rumbling. Not of some gigantic monster on its way... but of wheels. Massive flatbed trucks, reminiscent of those used in the military for equipment hauling rumbled down the road towards the entrance to the laboratory grounds, lead by a bright yellow topless Jeep. An Id was flashed at the gate, and they were allowed entrance, swarming across the parking lot around the vehicles already parked there. A Bright red footpaw stepped out of the jeep, resting atop the plush rubber of a black sandal, fashioned in a thong style for the owner's three toes. The hem of a black pair of dress pants hanging over it, attached to the rest of the towering red Dragons professional looking, steam pressed business suit. Upon stepping out of his Jeep he reached up to adjust the black tie that contrasted with the white undershirt beneath his suit's jacket. pulling the sunglasses off his head and tossing them into the passenger seat, he snatched up the briefcase in the back seat, and then grabbed one of the large cardboard boxes filled with books and papers in the backseat, gesturing for one of the half dozen people he brought with him to grab the others... as he rest of the 'team' he brought with him, began rolling the vintage last generation model Military Tanks he had brought with him, rolling the two vehicles up to sit in the small grassy field beside the parking lot, to wait whatever was planned for them. The front doors to the lab burst open in a sudden flurry of activity, Dragonien walking his way through the lobby, only giving the minimal amount of time needed to show his new ID to the security office before he was heading down the hall with the hired hand in tow, carrying three of the Dragon's boxes with him “This wont do at all” was the first thing he said when he reached what the little map he had with him said, was his office. Noticing as he stood in front of the door he was eye level with the top of the door frame. Being 8'4” of lithe red dragon had its disadvantages sometimes. “You'd think the head of the macro department would have a bigger door” he complained aloud, before pushing the door open, ducking down and heading inside, waving the mover in after him. With the boxes and briefcase dropped down on the seemingly neglected desk inside the office, he reached over to pull open the vertical plastic blinds that blocked the window from showing the next room. Seeing what the floor plan had told him had once been the macro lab, now as nothing more than a storage room he shook his head, frowning “oh nonono. That's gotta go too.” He reached into his briefcase and pulled out a freshly purchased composite notebook, and slipped an ebony colored pen from his pocket, and began jotting down in the notebook. Pausing only long enough to look for the phone, punch in the number for the owner and operator, Draco. “yes. Yes I know I've been here all of 5 minutes. Yes, those are tanks outside. No I'm not getting rid of them, I have plans for them. Yes. Yes.... yes... No... what? no no. Look. Meet me in the old macro lab. Yes. Now. Look, you hired me. I'm not the one that had the half dead division... yes now! No time like the present!” he answered through the phone, giving a silent wave to shoo away the mover, before hanging up and, notebook still in hand, started heading towards the entrance to the macro laboratory turned storage room. It took more than a few minutes for Draco to arrive, to a somewhat impatient, but still grinning red dragon standing leaned up against the wall in the dimly lit room, scribbling notes down in that notebook of his, which he snapped closed when he saw the somewhat shorter dragon enter, and immediately turned his attention to him. “Alright, I'm not using that weirdo room you said you've got in the basement so here's what I'm thinking... if the floor plans you gave me are accurate beneath this room there's an emergency bunker, and then nothing below that. So here's what we do. Clear all this crap out of here. Put it in sublevel storage or something... then we remove that emergency bunker, move it somewhere else in the sub levels. Then drop the floor in here down , and lower it a bit more so it goes into sub level 2. thatd give us about 5 stories of room to work with in here.” he began explaining with a bit of rushed enthusiasm. Either incredibly impatient, or rather eager to 'get the ball rolling' so to speak. “then. All these walls” he explained, pausing to gesture to the walls of the currently unused macro room “need to be replaced, with walls with Carbon steel reinforcement. That way they can stand up to a bit of pressure. Then up there” he paused again to point up to the ceiling” we make that retractable. So if and when we grow someone beyond the limits of the lab, we retract the roof, and they can simply step out of the lab, without damaging it.” then, he raised his paw up to point at the windows leading to the observation room on the second floor “Boom, research lab” then the one on the third floor “Boom, research lab. And we add small balconies outside each of those, so that there's room to install Experimental Rays, extra room for testing equipment, and is possible to converse with a currently housed macro without having him squat down.” he continued on without slow. Then paused for a moment to lean down so hes looking Draco face to face. “Hey, you getting all this?” He stood back up and flipped the notebook open again, scribbling down rather quickly in it, and turning to look around the rest of the room “We should also talk about merging the shrinking department with mine, the roster says there's only two people on it, I could just add them to my department and rename the Size Modification Department, would consolidate people, resources, and both I, and that department, would overall have more resources to devote to projects. Plus I need a shrinking specialist.” he continued on yet further, scribbling down more in the notebook, not even giving Draco anytime to respond, as each time he would try Dragonien would spark up on a new subject and cut him off “And the merchandise will need to be mass produced if we're going to begin selling it for a substantial profit. I assume you already have an off site manufacturing plant? If not we'll need to acquire one. I know a few that we could probably annex, they've helped me make small ordered before, I'm sure they'd jump at the chance for a bulk deal. The last thing we'd need to talk about that is the actual distribution and where we would sell it. We could just sell it to providers already out, but I'm thinking it would be more beneficial to introduce our own lamplight franchise store chain itself, that way we get a bigger cut of the profits. Though it means we'll need more than just my baseline of merchandise. You should probably mention that at the next staff meeting, we need marketable, mass production capable items” and then finally he seemed to slow to a stop... pausing long enough for Draco to give him time to see if he was going to start up again... but as soon as Draco began to open his mouth... “Oh and before I forget, none of my equipment or computer is set up yet, and I don't have the full staff roster, so ill need you to have your secretary send a memo to everyone in my department to meet me at that Buffet restaurant downtown after work for an impromptu staff meeting and meet-and-greet. Tell them it is mandatory, but that I'm treating, I'm sure that'll be enough to get them all to tough it out.” he added on, pausing to look down at Draco “What, you haven't said a word... you got all that right? Well no matter, here, I wrote it all down here” he said to the green dragon, all but shoving the notebook into his arms, which held all the notes of what he just said and unspoken details, and a, while hastily drawn, surprisingly detailed reworking on the floor plan of the Lab, showing the suggested changes Dragonien had made to the Macro lab. And as Dragonien turned to leave, heading back for his office, he yelled out one last thing over his shoulder before he slipped around the corner and out of sight, to get back to unpacking “And send someone to raise my damn doorframe!”
