after two years spoiled 
by snowbirding in Florida?" 

"Well, let me tell ya, Nephew: 
It's cold & bleak as Iceland, 
but with hockey & curling 
in place of interesting distractions 

like never-ending volcanic eruptions 
and trolls-interrupted road construction 
closing down the hot springs park.  

(but I'm assured that there's still plenty of fermented shark!)  

Yeah, I feel a bit safer, wimping out,
(don't wanna sound mean)
so I'll stick to my Timmies 
and maybe a small poutine  
(Hope I didn’t say that out loud!)  

Right around the sudden-brief partial thaw-day 
that  turns out to be a tipping point, 
where a parka's hood  
suddenly starts to feel  more like a shroud.
