Daring Diver (Bio) --------- Name: Daring Diver Species: Gray timberwolf Alternate Name: Willie Carson; goes by "Willie the Wolf" Gender: Male Nationality: Canadian Occupation: High diver for Circus Delights. He also carries the flag when marching in parades. (Cannonball Coyote also does this.) Appearance: Slim but athletically built wolf with blue eyes. Because he's a high diver, his main circus outfit is just a blue swimming cap and swimming trunks. He is almost always barefoot; he respects all cultures who frown upon padding, but anytime he can pad, he does. He uses common sense, however, and wears shoes to be safe when that's needed. Hometown: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Current Residence: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Age Frozen due to CNG: 28 Battle Uniform: Traditional form-fitting superhero outfit of blue and silver, with blue boots, belt, gloves, cape, and mask. In the center of his chest is a large silver "W" inside a blue circle. Alternate Clothing: His aforementioned diving outfit. Since he carries the flag in parades, the decision was made to give him an identical drum major uniform to the ones worn by the Circus Delights "super band." The uniform is the same design, employing a green jacket and green pants with gold trim and accents (epaulettes, stripes across the chest and down the pant legs, etc). He marches on his bare paws when carrying the flag (since the rest of the band marches and performs barefoot as well, unless they're in a culture that frowns upon that). Superpowers: X-ray vision, super-hearing, super acrobatic skills, and able to breathe underwater when swimming with no need for scuba gear. Because he has the drum major uniform, he also gained the powers that all musicians that are G-52s have: portal summoning, wardrobe manipulation, image manipulation, and sound manipulation. Bio: Willie began swimming and diving at a young age, and was unfortunate enough to have been affected at a young age when CNG got to him. This is because he was competing in a swim meet in a northern part of the United States, and there were smugglers at the meet attempting to use CNG to kill the officials, because one of their sons had wrongfully been disqualified when he shouldn't have been disqualified. (There was a glitch in the electronic timer that led to the mistake.) CNG instead killed the smugglers, of course, but it made sure to not affect the outcome of the meet. Willie soon found he was better at diving than at swimming (although he still swims for exercise), and had the pleasure of representing Canada in the FOG (Furry Olympic Games; these Games always begin after the human competition is complete), winning two golds and a silver in 10m platform diving, and one bronze medal in 3m springboard diving. It was after he won the bronze medal that he was given an opportunity to work for Circus Delights, since the circus was needing a new diving act. (Some of the circus performers were attending the diving session in person.) Willie's first high dive in the circus was a bit of a scary experience, since the diving platform was stationed much higher than he anticipated, and so it gave him a severe case of height freight. He knew he had to dive, however, because Landon the Labrador (Ringmaster of Righteousness) had already introduced him, so he slowly but surely climbed the diving ladder to the top. It took longer than anticipated to dive because he was a nervous wreck, and it didn't help that Mortimer Mertzon (Tenacious Timpanist), a percussionist in the band playing timpani, had made the drum roll too tense by accident, which made Willie's heart beat like a drum. (This taught both of them a hard lesson in magical music; not only does the musician have powers, but the instruments have powers, too, when played.) Seeing this, bandleader Samuel P. McGrath (Courageous Conductor) commanded Benjamin Andrews (Snare Bear) to add to the drum roll with the snare drum. Benjamin obeyed, and the magical effects of the snare seemed to neutralize what was going on with the timpani, eventually helping Willie find his courage. He finally jumped, did his flips and twists, and splashed down safely. He was more than relieved when the cymbals crashed and he emerged, wet, but happy. Because Willie was chosen to carry the flag in parades, he also wears the same green and gold drum major uniform, still padding, but with a shako with a golden "W" as the emblem. (The other parade flagbearer is Chad the Coyote Cannonball, but he wears his stuntman outfit.) Though Willie doesn't play an instrument nowadays (he had some experience with piano and glockenspiel), he is cousins with a wolf named Noel Garner, who plays glockenspiel in the band (and bell lyra when marching). Willie sometimes serves as Samuel's understudy for this reason, and knows how to conduct and lead as a drum major. He also helped Samuel encourage Mortimer on how to perform the drum rolls better, since Mortimer played another roll too tense when it was time for Levi the Mountee Lion to perform a high dive; this was during the fifth and final clown show that was part of Levi's sentence for ceding Machias Seal Island to the U.S. for all eternity. (Today, the people of Canada don't have a problem with that, and often say that they actually benefitted from losing it forever because Circus Delights has been declared an ICH, or intangible cultural heritage, of Canada. At a later date, Levi, performing for one night only as Levi the Wonder Lion, did another high dive, and this time, Mortimer redeemed himself, playing the roll in the correct manner so that it was motivating, not intimidating.) Willie can speak English, and only a tiny bit of French; the only words he knows in French are the words to the French version of "O Canada," and the words to the French national anthem, "La Marseillaise." He chose the codename "Daring Diver" as a reference to his circus act. Quotes: "I don't know why I was a nervous wreck, to be honest. I had rehearsed those high dives at 100 feet. The debut dive was 178 feet, or something like that. I wasn't sure I was going to get out of it alive, and it didn't help that I had no idea that the musical instrument our band play have superpowers, too, though they are not sentient instruments. It wasn't Morty's fault, however; all he was doing was obeying Samuel's instructions. Ask Levi and he'll tell you the same thing." (when talking to Super C) "It was a great honour to dive for Canada at the Olympics. I am hoping to continue that legacy for the circus." "The fact I parade on my paws in the same green and gold uniform the band wears is because I am to carry the flag when marching in parades. Chad is the other flagbearer, but in his case, it's better to wear his stuntman outfit. Why? He is the bravest performer of us all, and his Army career puts him on the same level as Super Slash or even Torsten Soldat, who are the greatest two soldiers ever to serve in the U.S. Army."
